FBG filter with minimal dispersion

Laser Physics, 2008
An optimal filter for super-fast fiber-optic communication lines should cause minimal phase distortions. The simplest case of Bragg grating with a symmetric profile is considered. A distortion functional is presented, which is the mean square group delay over the Bragg reflection band at a fixed integral reflectivity.

Effect of Strain and Temperature on FBG

2020 IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Computing and Communication Technologies (CONECCT), 2020
In this paper, the effect of longitudinal strain and temperature on uniform Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) is investigated using MATLAB. Measurement of strain or temperature in various applications is essential where mankind is restricted. Fiber optic technology gives a better result for the measurement of strain or temperature using FBG based sensors.

FBG hydrophone: Theory and experiment

2008 1st Asia-Pacific Optical Fiber Sensors Conference, 2008
A fiber Bragg grating (FBG) hydrophone with enhanced sensitivity is demonstrated. A novel piston-like diaphragm with a hard core fixed at the center is used as the sensing element. Theoretical analysis shows that the Young's modulus of the diaphragm and the radius of the hard core have significant effect on the pressure sensitivity.

Fabrication of FBGs With an Arbitrary Spectrum

IEEE Sensors Journal, 2008
A fiber Bragg grating (FBG) with an arbitrary spectrum can be obtained as the addition of the contribution of some concatenated subFBGs written without phase jumps using the same phase mask. An adaptive filter is used to obtain the parameters of the different subFBGs required to reproduce the desired response.

Tunable FBGs for wavelength scanning

2015 Photonics North, 2015
We demonstrate a low-cost tunable fiber Bragg grating (FBG) filter using electromagnetic tuning. Continuous wavelength scanning feature of this filter is evaluated by incorporating the same into a fiber laser system.

Accessing the Time Response of FBG

2007 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics - Pacific Rim, 2007
We report on experimental results related to the time response of fiber Bragg gratings. From the experimental data it is possible to retrieve important parameters such as the response delay and the grating switching time, which are properties of relevance for understanding the operation of fast tuning devices.

Superimposed Oppositely Chirped FBGs for Ultrafast FBG Sensor Interrogation with Significantly Improved Resolution

Advanced Photonics & Renewable Energy, 2010
A temporal-spectroscopy-based ultrafast FBG sensor interrogation system using two superimposed oppositely chirped FBGs is proposed. Compared with conventional temporal-spectroscopy-based FBG sensor interrogation systems, an improvement in interrogation resolution of two orders of magnitude is achievable.

FBG-Based Multidimensional QKD

2018 20th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2018
In this paper, we propose several FBG-based both weak coherent state and entanglement assisted multidimensional QKD (MQKD) protocols with mutually unbiased bases (MUBs) derived from the complex Hadamard matrices. We also propose how to implement them by using FBGs with orthogonal impulse responses.
