In this paper we propose a new synchronous stream cipher; the FBG stream cipher. This cipher is based on FBG (fuzzy bit generator) PN bit generator. The FBG cipher has been designed to produce keystream with guaranteed randomness properties; i.e. passing all the 16 tests of the NIST statistical test suite.

Sensitivity improvement of reflective tilted FBGs
Applied Optics, 2016Tilted fiber Bragg gratings are used as energy couplers in which the core mode and cladding modes can be coupled together. Cladding modes have extensive importance in sensing applications due to their sensitive characteristics to the surrounding refractive index.

Novel FBG triangular filter for interrogating a FBG sensor in dynamic strain measurement
Optoelectronics Letters, 2006We demonstrate the fabrication and the application of an in-fiber triangular filter (T-filter) based on a linearly chirped and apodized fiber Bragg grating (FBG). The theoretical analysis shows that this type of FBG T-filter has a good response in the demodulation of a wavelength-matched FBG sensor.

An optoelectronic oscillator using an FBG and an FBG-based Fabry–Perot filter
Optics Communications, 2015Abstract An optoelectronic oscillator (OEO) with a new structure is presented, which uses a Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) and an FBG-based Fabry–Perot (F–P) filter as mode selectors. The phase noise of the OEO is measured down to −104 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz offset. The OEO with an F–P filter instead of a RF filter has a long-term stability.

FBG tread wear detecting lines
SPIE Proceedings, 2012FBG strain sensing technology is used to dynamically detect tread wear of railway train wheels. Dozens of FBG track strain sensors are installed as lines along railway tracks in crosstie sections. Train wheels one by one roll on the track and load the sensors, groups of strain peak are taken.

A temporal-spectroscopy-based ultrafast FBG sensor interrogation system using two superimposed oppositely chirped FBGs is proposed. Compared with conventional temporal-spectroscopy-based FBG sensor interrogation systems, an improvement in interrogation resolution of two orders of magnitude is achievable.

Multiplexed FBG strain measurement system
SPIE Proceedings, 2008The idea and, design and realization of fiber Bragg grating multiplexing system is given. Special Bragg gratings with very long and linear side slopes were practically realized. They were tuned for different wavelengths distanced 9nm in each measurement channel. The system was applied for strain control. Special spectrophotometer with linear photodiode

FBG-Based Multidimensional QKD
2018 20th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2018In this paper, we propose several FBG-based both weak coherent state and entanglement assisted multidimensional QKD (MQKD) protocols with mutually unbiased bases (MUBs) derived from the complex Hadamard matrices. We also propose how to implement them by using FBGs with orthogonal impulse responses.

Novel electrically tunable FBG laser
SPIE Proceedings, 2000A novel electrically tunable fiber Bragg grating (FBG) laser is reported. The FBG can be coupled to the fiber efficiently. The FBG is pasted on the surface of a magnetostrictive rod. The magnetostrictive rod is placed in a solenoid and it stretches under the magnetic field. Then the FBG is tuned, and the laser's wavelength alters. The tuning range is 1.
