Superimposed Oppositely Chirped FBGs for Ultrafast FBG Sensor Interrogation with Significantly Improved Resolution

Advanced Photonics & Renewable Energy, 2010
A temporal-spectroscopy-based ultrafast FBG sensor interrogation system using two superimposed oppositely chirped FBGs is proposed. Compared with conventional temporal-spectroscopy-based FBG sensor interrogation systems, an improvement in interrogation resolution of two orders of magnitude is achievable.

Multiplexed FBG strain measurement system

SPIE Proceedings, 2008
The idea and, design and realization of fiber Bragg grating multiplexing system is given. Special Bragg gratings with very long and linear side slopes were practically realized. They were tuned for different wavelengths distanced 9nm in each measurement channel. The system was applied for strain control. Special spectrophotometer with linear photodiode

FBG-Based Multidimensional QKD

2018 20th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2018
In this paper, we propose several FBG-based both weak coherent state and entanglement assisted multidimensional QKD (MQKD) protocols with mutually unbiased bases (MUBs) derived from the complex Hadamard matrices. We also propose how to implement them by using FBGs with orthogonal impulse responses.

Novel electrically tunable FBG laser

SPIE Proceedings, 2000
A novel electrically tunable fiber Bragg grating (FBG) laser is reported. The FBG can be coupled to the fiber efficiently. The FBG is pasted on the surface of a magnetostrictive rod. The magnetostrictive rod is placed in a solenoid and it stretches under the magnetic field. Then the FBG is tuned, and the laser's wavelength alters. The tuning range is 1.

FBG-based Tunable Waveplate

Photonics and Fiber Technology 2016 (ACOFT, BGPP, NP), 2016
A pair of wavelength-matched Bragg gratings in a polarization maintaining fiber comprises a reflective tunable waveplate. Polarization of the reflected laser light is continuously tuned by tuning the laser wavelength or by straining the device.

FBG filter with minimal dispersion

Laser Physics, 2008
An optimal filter for super-fast fiber-optic communication lines should cause minimal phase distortions. The simplest case of Bragg grating with a symmetric profile is considered. A distortion functional is presented, which is the mean square group delay over the Bragg reflection band at a fixed integral reflectivity.

Microstructure-FBG hybrid load cell

SPIE Proceedings, 2014
We report the fabrication of an hybrid fibre optic and T-shaped microstructrure inscribed in soda lime microscope slides by using femtosecond laser irradiation technique. that allow to construct true 3-D structures. Within the T-shaped structure a FBG was inserted and glued with photopolymer adhesive.

Smart FBG-based FRP anchor

SPIE Proceedings, 2006
FRP ( Fiber Reinforced Polymer ) has become the popular material to alternate steel in civil engineering under harsh corrosion environment. But due to its low shear strength ability, the anchor for FRP is most important for its practical application.

Sampled FBG based optical interleaver

Technical Digest. CLEO/Pacific Rim 2001. 4th Pacific Rim Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (Cat. No.01TH8557), 2002
In this text, we propose a novel optical interleaver using sampled fiber Bragg grating. According to coupling-mode theory, the interleaver based on sampled fiber Bragg grating with low sampling duty cycle may realize separate odd and even channel into two groups with power equalization, low insertion loss, and low dispersion.
