FBG filter with minimal dispersion

Laser Physics, 2008
An optimal filter for super-fast fiber-optic communication lines should cause minimal phase distortions. The simplest case of Bragg grating with a symmetric profile is considered. A distortion functional is presented, which is the mean square group delay over the Bragg reflection band at a fixed integral reflectivity.

Microstructure-FBG hybrid load cell

SPIE Proceedings, 2014
We report the fabrication of an hybrid fibre optic and T-shaped microstructrure inscribed in soda lime microscope slides by using femtosecond laser irradiation technique. that allow to construct true 3-D structures. Within the T-shaped structure a FBG was inserted and glued with photopolymer adhesive.

Smart FBG-based FRP anchor

SPIE Proceedings, 2006
FRP ( Fiber Reinforced Polymer ) has become the popular material to alternate steel in civil engineering under harsh corrosion environment. But due to its low shear strength ability, the anchor for FRP is most important for its practical application.

Sampled FBG based optical interleaver

Technical Digest. CLEO/Pacific Rim 2001. 4th Pacific Rim Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (Cat. No.01TH8557), 2002
In this text, we propose a novel optical interleaver using sampled fiber Bragg grating. According to coupling-mode theory, the interleaver based on sampled fiber Bragg grating with low sampling duty cycle may realize separate odd and even channel into two groups with power equalization, low insertion loss, and low dispersion.

FBG Sensor Module Performance Estimation

LEOS 2007 - IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society Annual Meeting Conference Proceedings, 2007
A method to estimate FBG sensor module performance is presented. Both temperature effect and stress effect on bare and packaged FBG sensors have been addressed theoretically and experimentally with good agreement.

FBG hydrophone: Theory and experiment

2008 1st Asia-Pacific Optical Fiber Sensors Conference, 2008
A fiber Bragg grating (FBG) hydrophone with enhanced sensitivity is demonstrated. A novel piston-like diaphragm with a hard core fixed at the center is used as the sensing element. Theoretical analysis shows that the Young's modulus of the diaphragm and the radius of the hard core have significant effect on the pressure sensitivity.

Tunable FBGs for wavelength scanning

2015 Photonics North, 2015
We demonstrate a low-cost tunable fiber Bragg grating (FBG) filter using electromagnetic tuning. Continuous wavelength scanning feature of this filter is evaluated by incorporating the same into a fiber laser system.

High reliability FBG interrogation analyzers

SPIE Proceedings, 2009
The invention of optical fiber and semiconductor lasers in the 1960s opened up a cornucopia of applications, notably as a medium of carrying light signals for communications and sensing applications. Optical fibers provide a fundamental improvement over traditional methods offering lower loss, higher bandwidth, immunity to electromagnetic ...
