Development of Probiotic Fermented Sausages and Viability Monitoring of Supplemented Lactiplantibacillus plantarum BFL Strain

open access: yesFermentation, 2022
The reformulation of meat products is a pending task for the scientific-technological sector. Fermented meat products can carry probiotics, and studying their effect during the product shelf life currently represents a large area of vacancy.

A Monolithic FE Formulation for the Analysis of Membranes in Fluids [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Space Structures, 2009
We propose here an efficient approach for treating the interaction between membranes and fluids. Slight compressibility of the fluid is assumed. Classical total Lagrangian formulation including wrinkling is adopted for the membrane representation, whereas fluid is treated in an updated Lagrangian manner, developed in the current work.

Evaluation of circulating tumor DNA by electropherogram analysis and methylome profiling in high-risk neuroblastomas

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2023
BackgroundLiquid biopsy has emerged as a promising, non-invasive diagnostic approach in oncology because the analysis of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) reflects the precise status of the disease at diagnosis, progression, and response to treatment.

Characterization of Phase Transformation by Fe-SEM and Fe-TEM Analysis

open access: yesMicroscopy and Microanalysis, 2001
Abstract The formation of a silicon alloy has been achieved by electron beam irradiation of a nickel-silicon bilayer. This process, called SiDWEL1, has been developed by Quantiscript. The nickel-silicon bilayer is very thin and the electron beam operates at low energy and current. Silicide formation occurred around the interaction volume

Some aspects of atom-probe analysis of FeC and FeN systems

open access: yesSurface Science, 1992
Abstract During atom-probe analysis, nonmetallic elements like carbon and nitrogen can evaporate in a variety of complex forms, some of them molecular. In the current research, a comparative investigation has been made into the atom-probe mass spectrometry of FeC and FeN systems.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...
