Results 61 to 70 of about 2,193,375 (255)
We present results of high resolution (~ 55000) spectral observations of 830 photometrically pre-selected candidate red giants in the magnitude range of V = 9-12.

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Effect of the Residual Stress on the Fatigue Strength of a Bolt in Bolt/Nut Assemblies
The residual stress at the thread root of a bolt is one of the major factors influencing the fatigue strength. Some hypotheses have been proposed to predict the fatigue strength from the local stress on the thread root.

Sulphur and zinc abundances in Galactic stars and damped Lyman-alpha systems
High resolution spectra of 34 halo population dwarf and subgiant stars have been obtained with VLT/UVES and used to derive sulphur abundances from the 8694.0, 8694.6 A and 9212.9, 9237.5 A SI lines.

Chemical abundances in the nucleus of the Sagittarius dwarf spheroidal galaxy [PDF]
We present Iron, Magnesium, Calcium, and Titanium abundances for 235 stars in the central region of the Sagittarius dwarf spheroidal galaxy (within 9.0 arcmin ~70 pc from the center) from medium-resolution Keck/DEIMOS spectra.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

A Chemical Abundance Study of 10 Open Clusters Based on WIYN-Hydra Spectroscopy
We present a detailed chemical abundance study of evolved stars in 10 open clusters based on Hydra multi-object echelle spectra obtained with the WIYN 3.5m telescope. From an analysis of both equivalent widths and spectrum synthesis, abundances have been

VLT-UVES abundance analysis of four giants in NGC 6553 [PDF]
Metal-rich globular clusters trace the formation of bulges. Abundance ratios in the metal-rich globular clusters such as NGC 6553 can constrain the formation timescale of the Galactic bulge.

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Anomalous optical phonons in FeTe pnictides: spin state, magnetic order, and lattice anharmonicity
Polarized Raman-scattering spectra of non-superconducting, single-crystalline FeTe are investigated as function of temperature. We have found a relation between the magnitude of ordered magnetic moments and the linewidth of A1g phonons at low ...
