Feature-based detection using Bayesian data fusion [PDF]
Current cocaine detection techniques used at borders have their challenges, which include cost of training specialised operators, the high chance of operator error and the dangers involved in exposure of both operators and container contents to ...

Data fusion for defect characterisation using a dual probe system [PDF]
We present recent work on a dual probe system containing electromagnetic acoustic transducers (EMATs) generating and detecting surface ultrasonic waves, and a pulsed eddy current (PEC) probe.

Biophysical approaches for studying viral entry
Viruses infect all living organisms and have been responsible for major epidemics and pandemics. Their ongoing evolutionary battle with host defenses creates a constant need for improved tools to study viral behavior. Advancing methods to probe viral attachment, fusion, and genome release deepen our understanding of how infections begin and support the

Maximum entropy feature fusion
S.1163-1169We review recent theoretical results in maximum entropy (MaxEnt) PDF projection that provide a theoretical framework for fusing the information from multiple features for the purpose of general statistical inference.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Thermal Image Enhancement using Bi-dimensional Empirical Mode Decomposition in Combination with Relevance Vector Machine for Rotating Machinery Fault Diagnosis [PDF]
In this study, a novel fault diagnosis system for rotating machinery using thermal imaging is proposed. This system consists of bi-dimensional empirical mode decomposition (BEMD) for image enhancement, a generalized discriminant analysis (GDA) for ...

Feature-Level Fusion in Personal Identification [PDF]
The existing studies of multi-modal and multi-view personal identification focused on combining the outputs of multiple classifiers at the decision level. In this study, we investigated the fusion at the feature level to combine multiple views and modals in personal identification. A new similarity measure is proposed, which integrates multiple 2D view
