Melt-Pool Dynamics Quantification in LPBF via Move Contrast X-Ray Imaging

open access: yesMetals
The dynamic behavior within the melt pool governs the final quality of components fabricated by laser powder bed fusion (LPBF). To address key technical challenges—rapid keyhole evolution, low absorption contrast from metal vapor, and difficulties in ...

Biogeomorphological effects of leaf accumulations in stepped-bed channels: Exploratory study, Moravskoslezské Beskydy Mountains, Czech Republic

open access: yesMoravian Geographical Reports, 2016
The stepped-bed system, with a step-like longitudinal profile, is typical morphology in steep headwater streams. These systems are created by a series of coarse sediments or instream wood (steps with supercritical flows) interspaced with finer material ...

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

A star image registration algorithm based on joint feature matching

open access: yes, 2017
With the amount of space debris increasing accordingly with human activities in near space, the threat of space debris to space missions raises the concern of surveillance of these malicious targets.

Longitudinal genome‐wide aneuploidy measurements in circulating cell‐free DNA to predict lack of benefit from pembrolizumab in patients with metastatic urothelial cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Many patients with urothelial cancer do not benefit from treatment with pembrolizumab, while at risk of severe side effects. Changes in the levels of circulating tumor DNA early during treatment, measured by a simple and affordable assay that can be easily implemented in the clinic, can be used as a prognostic tool to identify these patients.

Somatic mutations in clonally expanded cytotoxic T lymphocytes in patients with newly diagnosed rheumatoid arthritis

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
Accumulation of somatic mutations in lymphocytes is a feature of some cancers. Here the authors show that patients with recent onset of rheumatoid arthritis also accumulate mutations in their expanded CD8+ effector memory T cell pool independent of ...

Tumor B‐cell infiltration in platinum‐treated advanced muscle‐invasive urothelial carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Bladder tumors with higher pretreatment memory B‐cell infiltration were linked to longer survival after cisplatin chemotherapy, but not carboplatin. These tumors also showed more organized immune structures (tertiary lymphoid structures) and a shared pro‐inflammatory B‐cell‐rich community, suggesting that memory B cells may help identify patients most ...

Deep sparse feature selection for computer aided endoscopy diagnosis

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper, we develop a computer aided diagnosis algorithm to detect and classify the abnormalities in vision-based endoscopic examination. We focus on analyzing the traditional gastroscope data and help the medical experts improve the accuracy of ...

Gas pipeline leakage detection based on multiple multimodal deep feature selections and optimized deep forest classifier

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science
Gas pipeline leaks contribute to one-third of methane emissions annually, posing environmental damage and safety risks. However, accurate and timely detection of the leak presents several challenges, including remote and inaccessible environments, low ...

Patient therapy outcome modeling in cancer organoids is improved by cancer‐associated fibroblasts and organoid assembly convolution

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Patient‐derived organoids (PDOs) from pancreatic, colorectal, and gastric cancers were used to evaluate standard and experimental therapies. Incorporating cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) into organoid cultures improved patient therapy outcome prediction.
