Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Compressive Sampling and Feature Ranking Framework for Bearing Fault Classification With Vibration Signals

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Failures of rolling element bearings are amongst the main causes of machines breakdowns. To prevent such breakdowns, bearing health monitoring is performed by collecting data from rotating machines, extracting features from the collected data, and ...

matFR: a MATLAB toolbox for feature ranking

open access: yesBioinformatics, 2020
Abstract Summary Nowadays, it is feasible to collect massive features for quantitative representation and precision medicine, and thus, automatic ranking to figure out the most informative and discriminative ones becomes increasingly important.

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.

ECG Feature Importance Rankings: Cardiologists Vs. Algorithms

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics
Feature importance methods promise to provide a ranking of features according to importance for a given classification task. A wide range of methods exist but their rankings often disagree and they are inherently difficult to evaluate due to a lack of ground truth beyond synthetic datasets. In this work, we put feature importance methods to the test on

Effective therapeutic targeting of CTNNB1‐mutant hepatoblastoma with WNTinib

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
WNTinib, a Wnt/CTNNB1 inhibitor, was tested in hepatoblastoma (HB) experimental models. It delayed tumor growth and improved survival in CTNNB1‐mutant in vivo models. In organoids, WNTinib outperformed cisplatin and showed enhanced efficacy in combination therapy, supporting its potential as a targeted treatment for CTNNB1‐mutated HB.

Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

Energy Conservation in Wireless Sensor Networks Using Partly-Informed Sparse Autoencoder

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
The energy in wireless sensor networks is considered a scarce commodity, especially in scenarios where it is difficult or impossible to provide supplementary energy sources once the initially available energy is used up.

Feature Ranking in Sentiment Analysis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Computer Applications, 2014
With the rapid expansion of e-commerce over the past 15 years, more products are sold on the Web. More and more people are buying products online. In order to enhance customer shopping experience, it has become a common practice for online merchants to enable their customers to write reviews on products that they have purchased.
