The role of fecal calprotectin in pediatric disease [PDF]
Fecal calprotectin (FC) is a calcium- and zinc-binding protein of the S100 family, mainly expressed by neutrophils and released during inflammation. FC became an increasingly useful tool both for gastroenterologists and for general practitioners for distinguishing inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) from irritable bowel syndrome.

Fecal lactoferrin and calprotectin after ileocolic resection for Crohn's disease [PDF]
PURPOSE: This study was designed to assess the role of fecal lactoferrin and calprotectin as markers of intestinal inflammation in patients with Crohn's disease who have undergone ileocolonic resection.

A thermo‐responsive rectal delivery platform integrating probiotic‐derived extracellular vesicles within a hyaluronic acid‐based copolymer enables localized and sustained therapy for ulcerative colitis. The formulation effectively suppresses inflammation, promotes macrophage polarization toward a regenerative phenotype, restores epithelial barrier ...

Fecal Calprotectin Concentrations in Cats with Chronic Enteropathies
Diagnosis of feline chronic inflammatory enteropathies (CIE) and the differentiation from small cell intestinal lymphoma (SCL) can be challenging. Intestinally expressed calprotectin (S100A8/A9 protein complex) appears to be part of the complex pathogenesis of feline chronic enteropathies (FCE).

This study demonstrated elevated levels of fecal component 3 (C3) and fibronectin (FN) in an ulcerative colitis (UC) mouse model. Importantly, fecal C3 exhibited a stronger correlation with disease activity than the clinically used fecal calprotectin (FC).

Fecal calprotectin is an established marker of gut inflammation in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Elevated levels of fecal calprotectin as well as gut microbial dysbiosis have also been observed in other clinical conditions.

Combination of leucine-rich alpha-2 glycoprotein and fecal markers detect Crohn’s disease activity confirmed by balloon-assisted enteroscopy [PDF]
Background/Aims Endoscopic activity confirmed by enteroscopy is associated with poor clinical outcome in Crohn’s disease (CD). We investigated which of the existing biomarkers best reflects endoscopic activity in CD patients including the small bowel ...

Fecal calprotectin - a valuable predictor of microscopic colitis.
Microscopic colitis (MC) has been of major concern worldwide due to its relapsing and remitting nature of chronic diarrhea. Quality of life of patients suffering from this disease is quite debilitating. In order to understand the role and importance of fecal calprotectin (FC) we performed a statistical analysis on the patients suffering from chronic ...
