Fed-Batch cultivation ofSaccharomyces cerevisiae with increased content of Δ5,7-sterols
Folia Microbiologica, 1986Cultivation of Saccharomyces cerevisiae with a linear nutrient feed was used to test the validity of a mathematical model describing changes in the physiological state of the culture. Markers of these changes were the concentrations of proteins and delta 5,7-sterols in yeast dry mass.

EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF DATADRIVEN MODELLING FOR CONTROL OF FED-BATCH CULTIVATION
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2005Abstract Application of the data driven modelling framework entitled Grid of Linear Models to derive a predictive model for a fed-batch fermentation process is presented. The modelling framework utilises a large number of local linear models to approximate the behaviour of the non-linear process. Industrial data from a fed-batch fermentation has been

A Guide to Fed-Batch Cultivation of Pichia pastoris on Laboratory Scale
Fed-batch is the most commonly used cultivation mode for industrial production of recombinant proteins with Pichia pastoris. On a laboratory scale, fed-batch culture provides a way to control the specific biomass growth rates at any pre-set value, allowing the conditions of biomass growth and recombinant product formation to be systematically studied ...Marcel, Straumann +4 more

The Hagen–Poiseuille pump for parallel fed-batch cultivations in microbioreactors
Chemical Engineering Science, 2009Abstract We developed and applied a micropump for liquid flows of 0–150 nL/min. The operating principle of this pump is based on the Hagen–Poiseuille law. The main advantages of this pump are that an accurate continuous flow rate can be achieved, it is cheap to manufacture, easy to parallelize and easy to integrate in microtiter plates.

Genetic Algorithms Based Parameter Identification of Yeast Fed-Batch Cultivation
2011Different kinds of genetic algorithms have been investigated for a parameter identification of a fermentation process. Altogether eight realizations of genetic algorithms have been presented - four of simple genetic algorithms and four of multi-population ones.

Recombinant streptokinase production by fed-batch cultivation of Escherichia coli
Enzyme and Microbial Technology, 1999Abstract Streptokinase (SK) is a specific effective medicine for thrombolytic therapy of acute myocardial infarction. This study established a process for the pilot production of recombinant streptokinase (r-SK). Engineering bacteria were fermented in a 20-l fermentor to produce r-SK. After simple renaturation and purification, 12.9 g of r-SK with 97.

Designing new controller for fed-batch cultivation of recombinant E.coli
2008 27th Chinese Control Conference, 2008Fed-batch fermentation processes are common methods of producing biologic recombinant cells from different microorganisms. Model-based control of bioprocesses is a difficult task due to the challenges associated with bioprocess modelling and the lack of on-line measurements.

Control of Fed-Batch Yeast Cultivation Using a Capacitance Sensor
2009Abstract Saccharomyces cerevisiae biomass is still one of the most important biotechnological products in the world, mainly in the form of baker's yeast. Costs of substrates have an important position in the overall economics of baker's yeast production, which is usually run in fed-batch bioreactors.

Grey-box stochastic modelling of industrial fed-batch cultivation
2006Abstract This paper presents application of a grey-box stochastic modelling framework for developing continuous time models for dynamic systems based on experimental data. The framework is used to develop predictive models suited for control purposes.
