Feedback linearization and driftless systems

Mathematics of Control, Signals, and Systems, 1994
The authors introduce the definition of an immersion of a (smooth) control system into another, a purely differential-geometric notion in the field of Pfaffian systems. Then they prove that a system is feedback linearizable if and only if it is immersed in a controllable linear system (in fact, a more general proposition is established).

Linear feedback in nonlinear circuits

2017 24th IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Circuits and Systems (ICECS), 2017
Nonlinear models can be used to describe a wide class of circuits. In this paper, a feedback that only includes linear components is introduced into a nonlinear circuit to improve the performance. It is shown that the generalized frequency response function of the closed loop system can be analytically and explicitly expressed as a polynomial of the ...

Feedback linearization and lattice theory

Systems & Control Letters, 2013
Abstract The tools of lattice theory are applied to readdress the static state feedback linearization problem for discrete-time nonlinear control systems. Unlike the earlier results that are based on differential geometry, the new tools are also applicable for nonsmooth systems.

Approximate linearization via feedback — an overview

Automatica, 2001
The purpose of this survey is to review the existing approximate-linearization approaches and techniques in the last 15 years and to provide some perspective on the new trends recently emerging in the field. The considered approximate-linearization methods are classified according to the following scheme: partial-linearization techniques, linearization-

Feedback linearization: a linear algebraic approach

Proceedings of 32nd IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2002
The goal of this paper is to show that when differential forms are viewed as elements of a suitable differential vector space, they provide a powerful tool to tackle the feedback linearization problem. Our formalism allows us to give necessary and sufficient conditions for dynamic linearization as well as to recover the early results in feedback ...

LINEAR OUTPUT SELECTION FOR FEEDBACK LINEARIZATION

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2002
Abstract The problem of selecting a linear scalar output y = Kx for a single-input nonlinear dynamic system given in input-affine form (x = f(x) + g(x)u) is considered in this paper. In the general case, when the zero dynamics is hard to investigate analytically, K is suggested to be the resulting feedback gain of an LQ linear optimal control ...

Equalization and linearization via linear negative feedback

1993 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2002
The authors present a method for equalizing the frequency response of a weakly nonlinear system while simultaneously reducing the amount of nonlinear distortion. This is achieved by introducing a linear equalizer in a feedback loop with the system. A dynamic loudspeaker is used to illustrate the theory and its mechanics.

RISK MINIMIZATION BY LINEAR FEEDBACK

Kybernetes, 1979
This paper offers an introduction to dynamic economic planning under uncertainty, i.e. the use of econometric models together with mathematical optimization methods for the analysis and quantitative determination of optimal economic policies. The corresponding basic methodology (optimal feedback stochastic control of linear econometric models given a ...
