Structure‐forward targeting of claudins with synthetic binders
Claudins form the paracellular barriers between epithelial and endothelial tissues at tight junctions and are targets for molecular binders with the goal of modulating barrier permeability. Claudin‐binding molecules are relevant in drug delivery or in altering claudin interactions with disease‐causing proteins.

(Re)inventing the Circadian Feedback Loop [PDF]
For 20 years, researchers have thought that circadian clocks are defined by feedback loops of transcription and translation. The rediscovery of posttranslational circadian oscillators in diverse organisms forces us to rethink this paradigm. Meanwhile, the original "basic" feedback loops of canonical circadian clocks have swelled to include dozens of ...

Using teacher-supported peer feedback to develop student feedback literacy in L2 writing: An instructional model [PDF]
To realize the potential of feedback, students need to possess feedback literacy. Frequently implemented in writing classrooms, peer feedback activities carry unique potential for developing student feedback literacy. This paper proposes an instructional

Epigenetic reprogramming of lineage switching in cancer
Cancer cells rarely commit to a single identity. Epigenetic mechanisms and tumor microenvironment cues push epithelial cells toward flexible, hybrid states that can shift into mesenchymal, neuroendocrine, or stem‐like fates, driving metastasis, drug resistance, and tumor heterogeneity. Targeting the epigenetic regulators behind these transitions, using

Robust Cascade Control inside a New Model-Matching Architecture
Whenever additional states of a plant can be measured, closing nested feedback loops can be exploited in a variety of ways. The goal here is to reduce the bandwidth of feedback controllers and thus reduce the amplification of sensor noise that can ...

How do genomes gain new functional parts? In eukaryotes, which tend to evolve under weak selection, much of the genome is junk. Palazzo and Qiu borrow the logic of Markov chains to show how non‐functional DNA becomes functional through the appearance of intermediate states, which arise due to epistasis, buffering, and biochemical messiness, allowing ...

Membrane composition and thermodynamic identity as boundaries of life for synthetic cell research
What makes a cell a cell? The boundary of a living cell is not just a wall. Read as a Markov blanket, the membrane separates internal from external states, generating identity and non‐equilibrium order. Can this identity be rebuilt from scratch in a synthetic cell?

Feedback mechanisms stabilise degraded turf algal systems at a CO2 seep site
Ben Harvey et al. use the gradient provided by a natural CO2 seep off Shikine Island, Japan and lab microcosm experiments to determine how ocean acidification promotes turf algal habitat conditions that create stabilizing feedback loops and hysteresis ...

Experimental validation of a predicted feedback loop in the multi-oscillator clock of Arabidopsis thaliana [PDF]
Our computational model of the circadian clock comprised the feedback loop between LATE ELONGATED HYPOCOTYL (LHY), CIRCADIAN CLOCK ASSOCIATED 1 (CCA1) and TIMING OF CAB EXPRESSION 1 (TOC1), and a predicted, interlocking feedback loop involving TOC1 and a
