Effects of soil tillage and fertility management on acid phosphatase activity in corn (Zea mays L.) in two long‐term crop rotations

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 1, March 2026.
Abstract Enzyme activity studies provide an indicator of soil health related to soil management practices. As land area seeded to corn (Zea mays L.) and corn yields increase in this region, demands for plant nutrients also increase to support the high yields.

Effect of Diet Neutral Detergent Fibre Content on Dry Matter Intake, Nutrient Digestibility, Growth Efficiency and Carcass Characteristics of Finishing South African Mutton Merino Wether Lambs

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 2, March 2026.
Feeding South African Mutton Merino lambs low‐NDF lucerne hay diets improved nutrient digestibility, energy utilisation, growth efficiency, and carcass quality. Despite lower intake at the lowest NDF level, fibre digestibility and feed conversion improved, indicating that highly digestible, low‐NDF finishing diets enhance lamb growth and carcass traits.

Large‐scale reproductive loss in sheep due to Border disease virus infection, New South Wales, Australia

open access: yesAustralian Veterinary Journal, Volume 104, Issue 3, Page 137-149, March 2026.
Border disease viruses (BDV) and bovine viral diarrhoea viruses (BVDV) are members of the Pestivirus genus in the family Flaviviridae. While BVDV is one of the most significant endemic viral infections of cattle in Australia, BDV infection is generally considered to be uncommon in Australian sheep.

Genomic Prediction Ability for Novel Profitability Traits Using Different Models in Nelore Cattle

open access: yesJournal of Animal Breeding and Genetics, Volume 143, Issue 2, Page 244-255, March 2026.
ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to assess the accuracy, bias and dispersion of genomic predictions for accumulated profitability (APF) and profit per kilogram of liveweight gain (PFT) in Nelore cattle using different prediction approaches. The dataset consisted of 3969 phenotypic records for each trait. The pedigree harboured information from 38,930

Identifying Meat from Grazing or Feedlot Yaks Using Visible and Near-infrared Spectroscopy with Chemometrics

open access: yesJournal of Food Protection
The quality of meat can differ between grazing and feedlot yaks. The present study examined whether spectral fingerprints by visible and near-infrared (Vis-NIR) spectroscopy and chemo-metrics could be employed to identify the meat of grazing and feedlot ...
