Replication of Feline Herpesvirus and Feline Calicivirus in Cell and Organ Cultures
American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1976SUMMARY Virus titers from feline herpesvirus-infected feline tracheal organ cultures were higher than those from feline kidney cell cultures. The time for the development of peak viral yields was longer in organ culture as compared to cell cultures. Feline tracheal organ cultures infected with feline calicivirus produced minimal viral titers.

Feline Herpesvirus Ocular Disease
Veterinary Clinics of North America: Small Animal Practice, 1990Infection by FHV-1 is one of the most common ophthalmic diseases of domestic cats worldwide. Although the usual manifestations are conjunctivitis and keratitis, infection with this virus has been linked to a variety of other ophthalmic syndromes of cats, including keratoconjunctivitis sicca and corneal sequestration.

Heterogeneity of feline herpesvirus type 1 strains
Archives of Virology, 1992Heterogeneity of 9 feline herpesvirus type 1 (FHV-1) strains consisting of the prototype C27 strain, one French isolate, six Japanese isolates, and the attenuated vaccine F2 strain was examined by biological, immunological, and molecular biological methods.

Physical characterization of the genome of feline herpesvirus-1
Virology, 1986The physical structure of the genome of feline herpesvirus-1, a major upper respiratory tract pathogen of cats, was studied. Purified FHV-1 DNA was analyzed by restriction endonuclease and gamma 5' exonuclease digestion, blot hybridization, and electron microscopy.

In vitro recombination of feline herpesvirus type 1
Archives of Virology, 1998We investigated the possibility of in vitro recombination of three different strains of feline herpesvirus type 1 (FHV-1), a virulent strain (C7805), a vaccine strain (F2), and a candidate vaccine strain with a deletion in the thymidine kinase gene (C7301dlTK).

Herpesvirus induced feline urolithiasis—A review
Comparative Immunology, Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, 1979Abstract Three viruses were isolated during early studies of feline urolithiasis. These viruses were: feline calicivirus, feline syncytium forming virus (FeSFV), and a previously undescribed cell associated herpesvirus (CAHV). Urolithiasis in all its manifestations (hematuria, urethral obstruction, and cystitis) has been reproduced in specific ...

A candidate phocid herpesvirus vaccine that provides protection against feline herpesvirus infection
Vaccine, 2001Phocid herpesvirus type 1 (PhHV-1) causes significant morbidity and mortality among young and immunocompromised harbour seals. Therefore, the availability of an effective PhHV-1 vaccine would be of importance for orphanages and seal rehabilitation centres.

Abstract Objective—To evaluate the use of RNA interference targeted against feline herpesvirus 1 (FHV-1) glycoprotein D for inhibition of FHV-1 infection of feline kidney cells. Sample Population—Crandell-Rees feline kidney cells. Procedures—Crandell-Rees feline kidney cells were transfected with small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) that were designed to ...

Biochemical study of the Feline Herpesvirus 1
Archives of Virology, 1984Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis herpesvirus (Feline Herpesvirus 1; FHV-1) was purified by rate zonal isopycnic centrifugation. Viral nucleocapsids were isolated from the nuclei and purified. Analysis of the purified and radiolabelled viral polypeptides and glycoproteins by gradient SDS polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis revealed that 23 viral proteins and

AbstractObjective Recombinant feline interferon omega (rFeIFN‐ω), a type I IFN, may have the potential to limit virus replication and associated clinical signs when administered early on in the course of feline herpesvirus type 1 (FHV‐1) infection and reactivation, respectively.
