Reproductive and developmental effects of phthalate diesters in females

open access: yesCritical Reviews in Toxicology, 2013
Phthalate diesters, widely used in flexible plastics and consumer products, have become prevalent contaminants in the environment. Human exposure is ubiquitous and higher phthalate metabolite concentrations documented in patients using medications with ...

Morphological separation of the Central European Trochosa females (Araneae, Lycosidae)

open access: yes, 2009
Adult females of the five Central European wolf spiders Trochosa hispanica Simon, 1870, T. robusta (Simon, 1876), T. ruricola (De Geer, 1778), T. spinipalpis (F. O. P.-Cambridge, 1895), and T. terricola Thorell, 1856 were morphologically analysed.

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Some clinicopathological aspects of camelpox in Saudi Arabia

open access: yes, 1999
The clinicopathological aspects of an outbreak of camelpox in an experimental camel herd in Riyadh are recorded. The morbidity rate in camel calves was 100% with a corresponding morbidity rate of 33% in pregnant females. Premonitory signs comprised fever,

The Effects of Cushioning Properties on Parameters of Gait in Habituated Females While Walking and Running

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The purpose of this study was to compare the mechanical properties of a non-cushioned minimalistic shoe and cushioned shoe during walking at 6 and running at 10 and 14 km∙h−1 in habituated female runners.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Social bonds between unrelated females increase reproductive success in feral horses

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 2009
In many mammals, females form close social bonds with members of their group, usually between kin. Studies of social bonds and their fitness benefits have not been investigated outside primates, and are confounded by the relatedness between individuals ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Reading Female Readers: The Female Quixote And Female Quixotism

open access: yes, 2011
These two novels offer clues to the idea of the reader and to the understanding of the nature of the reading act in the eighteenth-century context. Because they take the fiction they read as models of the world, both protagonists violate emerging rules for reading fiction.
