Periodic submicron features are fabricated on 304 stainless steel using single and double femtosecond laser pulses. By adjusting polarization, fluence, and inter‐pulse delay, 1D and 2D nanostructures are formed. Enhanced hydrophobicity and dense surface‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy hotspots enable analyte detection down to 10−10 M with good ...

Possible surface plasmon polariton excitation under femtosecond laser irradiation of silicon
The mechanisms of ripple formation on silicon surface by femtosecond laser pulses are investigated. We demonstrate the transient evolution of the density of the excited free-carriers.

Structurally Colored Physically Unclonable Functions with Ultra‐Rich and Stable Encoding Capacity
This study reports a design strategy for generating bright‐field resolvable physically unclonable functions with extremely rich encoding capacity coupled with outstanding thermal and chemical stability. The optical response emerges from thickness‐dependent structural color formation in ZnO features, which are fabricated by physical vapor deposition ...

Longtitudinal electron beam diagnostics via upconversion of THz to visible radiation [PDF]
Longitudinal electro-optic electron bunch diagnostics has been successfully applied at several accelerators. The electro-optic effect can be seen as an upconversion of the Coulomb field of the relativistic electron bunch (THz radiation) to the visible ...

Heat Conduction Modulation in Incommensurate Twisted Stacking of Transition‐Metal Dichalcogenide
The interlayer thermal conductance in twisted bilayer TMDs is initially investigated experimentally by the thermoreflectance method. The overlap of lattice vibrations within individual layers and the interlayer interactions, as elucidated through both Raman spectroscopy and molecular dynamics simulations, are demonstrated to be critical factors in ...

C$_{60}$ in intense femtosecond laser pulses: nonlinear dipole response and ionization
We study the interaction of strong femtosecond laser pulses with the C$_{60}$ molecule employing time-dependent density functional theory with the ionic background treated in a jellium approximation.

In this work, a new tetracene derivative, 5,11‐di(thiophen‐2‐yl)tetracene (2T‐Tc) is introduced, exhibiting enhanced physical and chemical stability, and retaining favorable singlet fission kinetics with near unity triplet pair yield in thin films.

Modelling and experiments of self-reflectivity under femtosecond ablation conditions
We present a numerical model which describes the propagation of a single femtosecond laser pulse in a medium of which the optical properties dynamically change within the duration of the pulse.

Symmetry‐broken plasmonic nanoantenna arrays achieve broadband multiresonant enhancement of second harmonic generation (SHG), third harmonic generation (THG), and upconversion photoluminescence (UCPL), under femtosecond laser excitation across the near‐infrared range (1000–1600 nm).

Optical Control of the Thermal Conductivity in BaTiO3
Light‐driven manipulation of thermal conductivity in archetypal ferroelectric, BaTiO3, offers a novel and effective approach for the dynamical control of the heat flux, with potential applications in thermal management and phonon‐based logic. Abstract Achieving dynamic control over thermal conductivity remains a formidable challenge in condensed matter
