Application of femtosecond laser etching in the fabrication of bulk SiC accelerometer
Silicon carbide (SiC) is a promising material to fabricate MEMS accelerometers used in extreme environments for vibration monitoring. However, with ultra-high hardness and corrosion resistance, it is difficult to etch bulk SiC by traditional MEMS ...

Massively parallel femtosecond laser processing
Massively parallel femtosecond laser processing with more than 1000 beams was demonstrated. Parallel beams were generated by a computer-generated hologram (CGH) displayed on a spatial light modulator (SLM). The key to this technique is to optimize the CGH in the laser processing system using a scheme called in-system optimization.

Femtosecond laser processing of microcavity lasers
In this paper, we reviewed the fabrications of functional microcavity lasers in soft materials such as polymer and protein by femtosecond laser processing. High-quality (Q) microdisks with a laser dye (Rhodamine B, RhB) acting as gain medium were fabricated that produced whispering-gallery-mode (WGM) lasing output.

The art and science of femtosecond laser writing [PDF]
We demonstrate how femtosecond laser writing can challenge common beliefs in optics. Recently discovered phenomena of quill writing related to self-assembled nanostructuring in glasses and non-reciprocal laser writing in crystals are ...
