The place of intertrochanteric osteotomy in the treatment of idiopathic necrosis of the head of the femur [PDF]
The authors present their experience of the use of intertrochanteric osteotomy for the treatment of idiopathic necrosis of the head of the femur. The results obtained from 102 osteotomies performed on 81 patients with the disease are analysed.

Avascular necrosis of the femur head.
Journal of manipulative and physiological therapeutics, 1989A case of avascular necrosis of the femur head is presented. Its clinical picture is similar to that of osteoarthritis of the hip. The examination should include plain film radiography and radionuclide scan. When these two imaging procedures are equivocal, then magnetic resonance imaging should be considered.

[Femur head necrosis in childhood].
Der Orthopade, 1990The natural history of avascular necrosis of the femoral head in children and adolescents shows significant differences compared to the course of this disease in adults. Depending on the remaining growth potential, even extensive damage of the femoral head can regenerate, as long as the epiphyseal growth plate is not involved in the process. Otherwise,

[Diagnostic imaging in femur head necrosis].
Der Orthopade, 2000Diagnosis of avascular necrosis (AVN) of the hip has been improved by the technical progress of imaging modalities during the last decade. For a long period, only plain radiographs had been available. Scintigraphy and computed tomography contributed to differential diagnosis and early detection of bone necrosis.
