Impact of inorganic nitrate on renal sodium excretion during saline loading in healthy adults; secondary endpoints from a randomized crossover trial

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 14, Issue 11, June 2026.
Abstract Inorganic nitrate may lower blood pressure (BP) and enhance natriuresis through nitric oxide (NO) mediated mechanisms. Studies have found inconsistent effects of NO on sodium excretion. Nitric oxide synthase (NOS) inhibition suggests increased NO promotes natriuresis, whereas inorganic nitrate studies remain inconclusive.

Effects of intrarenal angiotensin 1–7 infusion on renal haemodynamic and excretory function in anaesthetised two‐kidney one‐clip and deoxycorticosterone acetate‐salt hypertensive rats

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, 2023
This study investigated the action of angiotensin 1–7 (Ang (1–7)) on renal haemodynamic and excretory function in the two‐kidney one‐clip (2K1C) and deoxycorticosterone acetate (DOCA)‐salt rat models of hypertension, in which the endogenous renin ...
