Abstract Inorganic nitrate may lower blood pressure (BP) and enhance natriuresis through nitric oxide (NO) mediated mechanisms. Studies have found inconsistent effects of NO on sodium excretion. Nitric oxide synthase (NOS) inhibition suggests increased NO promotes natriuresis, whereas inorganic nitrate studies remain inconclusive.

Acute Kidney Injury Associated With Dehydration Protocol Used by Combat Sports Athletes

The increase in combat sports practice and the creation of weight divisions for fairer competitions led to dehydration practice as a strategy of inclusion in inferior divisions. However, this technique can damage kidney and heart functions due to alterations in blood volume.
