Abstract The presence of the brown citrus mite, or oriental red mite, Eutetranychus orientalis, a species in the EPPO A2 list of pests recommended for regulation as a quarantine pest, is reported in Italy for the first time. The mite has been found in several locations in the territory of Eastern Sicily, the largest citrus‐growing area of Italy.
