A Model for the Catabolism of Rhizopine in Rhizobium leguminosarum Involves a Ferredoxin Oxygenase Complex and the Inositol Degradative Pathway

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 1998
Rhizopines are nodule-specific compounds that confer an intraspecies competitive nodulation advantage to strains that can catabolize them. The rhizopine (3-O-methyl-scyllo-inosamine, 3-O-MSI) catabolic moc gene cluster mocCABRDE(F) in Rhizobium ...

The problem of resistant Trichomonas vaginalis to antiprotozoal drugs

open access: yesЖурнал инфектологии, 2014
This review presents recent data on the energy metabolism of Trichomonas vaginalis and ways the activation of metronidazole. The sensitivity of microorganisms to the 5-nitroimidazole by the presence of their enzyme systems, generating and transporting ...

Heterologous ferredoxin reductase and flavodoxin protect Cos-7 cells from oxidative stress. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2010
BACKGROUND: Ferredoxin-NADP(H) reductase (FNR) from Pisum sativum and Flavodoxin (Fld) from Anabaena PCC 7119 have been reported to protect a variety of cells and organisms from oxidative insults.

Ferredoxin-sulfite Reductase from Spinach [PDF]

open access: yesAgricultural and Biological Chemistry, 1980
Ferredoxin-sulfite reductase (Fd-SiR) [hydrogen-sulfide: ferredoxin oxidoreductase, EC 1.8.7.1] from spinach leaves has been purified to homogeneity by a new procedure. Subunit analysis by sodium dodecyl sulfate gel electrophoresis yielded a single protein band with a molecular weight of 71,000.

Growth- and substrate-dependent transcription of formate dehydrogenase and hydrogenase coding genes in Syntrophobacter fumaroxidans and Methanospirillum hungatei [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Transcription of genes coding for formate dehydrogenases (fdh genes) and hydrogenases (hyd genes) in Syntrophobacter fumaroxidans and Methanospirillum hungatei was studied following growth under different conditions.

Measurement of ferredoxin-dependent sulfite reductase activity in crude extracts from leaves using O-acetyl-l-serine sulfhydrylase in a coupled assay system to measure the sulfide formed [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
Ferredoxin-dependent sulfite reductase (EC 1.8.7.1) catalyses the reduction of sulfite to sulfide, using reduced ferredoxin as an electron donor. An assay system was developed for measuring this enzyme activity in crude extracts and broken chloroplast ...

Engineering of daidzein 3’-hydroxylase P450 enzyme into catalytically self-sufficient cytochrome P450

open access: yesMicrobial Cell Factories, 2012
A cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzyme, 3’-daidzein hydroxylase, CYP105D7 (3’-DH), responsible for daidzein hydroxylation at the 3’-position, was recently reported.

Evolutionary insights into bilin biosynthesis: Functional characterization of pre-PcyA enzymes. [PDF]

open access: yesProtein Sci
Abstract Biosynthesis of the linear tetrapyrrole phycocyanobilin (PCB) by the ferredoxin‐dependent bilin reductase (FDBR) PcyA is essential for light‐harvesting and regulatory processes in diverse photosynthetic organisms, yet its evolutionary origins are not fully understood. PcyA evolved from pre‐PcyA proteins found in diverse bacteria.

Cytochrome P450-catalyzed allylic oxidation of pentalenene to 1-deoxypentalenic acid in pentalenolactone biosynthesis

open access: yesEngineering Microbiology
Pentalenolactone is a sesquiterpene antibiotic from Streptomyces. Its biosynthetic pathway has been elucidated, except for the oxidation of pentalen-13-al to 1-deoxypentalenic acid.

An Overview of the Electron-Transfer Proteins That Activate Alkane Monooxygenase (AlkB)

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2022
Alkane-oxidizing enzymes play an important role in the global carbon cycle. Alkane monooxygenase (AlkB) oxidizes most of the medium-chain length alkanes in the environment. The first AlkB identified was from P.
