Baseline serum ferritin predicts myocardial iron uptake following intravenous iron therapy – a hypothesis‐generating study

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims Many patients with heart failure (HF) are iron‐deficient. Intravenous (IV) iron therapy improves symptoms and reduces hospitalizations for HF. Several mechanisms have been proposed, including myocardial iron repletion. However, it is unknown if serum iron markers predict the extent of this repletion.

Intravenous ferric carboxymaltose in heart failure with iron deficiency (FAIR‐HF2 DZHK05 trial): Sex‐specific outcomes

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims Intravenous iron has emerged as a guideline‐recommended therapy in patients with heart failure and iron deficiency, but the potential sex‐related differences in efficacy are unknown. We aimed to assess sex‐specific outcomes in the Intravenous Iron in Patients with Systolic Heart Failure and Iron Deficiency to Improve Morbidity & Mortality

Ferritin's role in infectious diseases: Exploring pathogenic mechanisms and clinical implications

open access: yesNew Microbes and New Infections
Ferritin, an iron storage protein, is crucial for maintaining iron metabolism balance throughout the body and serves as a key biomarker for evaluating the body's iron reserves.
