Balint Groups: A Catalytic Collaboration Between General Practice and Psychoanalysis
ABSTRACT This paper explores the foundations of Balint groups, a method for studying clinical relationships and countertransference. Enid and Michael Balint began holding seminars with general practitioners at the Tavistock Clinic in 1950, aiming to apply psychoanalytic principles to understand the doctor‐patient relationship.

On Technology and the Ecology of Thinking: Thinking and Aliveness in the Brave New World
ABSTRACT What does thinking require? This paper draws on object relations theory—particularly Bion's account of alpha‐function and containment, and Winnicott's concepts of potential space and holding—to argue that thinking, understood as the capacity to transform raw experience into thinkable form, depends on environmental conditions that can be ...

A C‐2 functionalized l‐iduronic acid derivative was designed and synthesized as a candidate pharmacological chaperone for iduronate‐2‐sulfatase (IDS), the enzyme involved in the lysosomal storage disease MPS II (Hunter syndrome). The synthesis overcomes significant synthetic challenges associated with manipulations of L‐ido scaffolds.

In our study, we demonstrate how climate change is degrading fisheries and forest resources in Marajó Island's coastal communities, where we found younger residents and urban‐proximate groups express the strongest concerns. We document how warming temperatures and erratic rainfall are threatening traditional livelihoods, food security, and cultural ...
