Agreement and 2‐year trajectories of youth‐ and parent‐reported health‐related quality of life in youth with epilepsy treated with surgery vs medical therapy

open access: yesEpilepsia, Volume 67, Issue 6, Page 2783-2795, June 2026.
Abstract Objective This cohort study examined the agreement between youth‐ and parent‐reported health‐related quality of life (HRQOL) of children treated with epilepsy surgery compared to medical therapy. A second aim was to evaluate whether changes in HRQOL over 2 years differed between the two groups, and to determine whether these trajectories ...

Mechanistic Insights Into Color and Texture Stability of Frozen Tropical Vegetables: Processing, Modeling, and Preservation Strategies

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
This review elucidates the mechanistic pathways governing color and texture degradation in frozen tropical vegetables, emphasizing pigment oxidation, enzymatic softening, and ice crystal‐induced structural damage. It integrates kinetic, Arrhenius, RSM, and machine‐learning models with advanced preservation strategies to optimize freezing processes ...

The Cross‐Sectional and Longitudinal Associations Between Social Media and Mental Health Among a Large Sample of Adolescents, Inclusive of Transgender/Gender‐Diverse Adolescents

open access: yesJournal of Adolescence, Volume 98, Issue 4, Page 1396-1408, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction The objectives of this study were to examine: (1) the cross‐sectional and longitudinal associations between social media (SM) time and mental health outcomes among a large sample of Canadian adolescents (ages 12–18) and (2) if associations are moderated by gender.

The impact of physical activity on psychological distress in young people: An analysis of longitudinal data from the Millennium Cohort Study using causal machine learning

open access: yesJCPP Advances, Volume 6, Issue 2, June 2026.
Using causal machine learning, we estimated the causal effect of meeting government guidelines on physical activity on psychological distress in young people. Whilst observing no overall impact, we did identify some groups who benefit relatively more from meeting the physical activity guidelines, including males.

First‐Principles Design of Room Temperature Ferromagnetic Metallic Rare‐Earth Zintl Compounds AB2C2 (A = Ce, Pr, Nd; B = Li; C = Sb) for Next‐Generation Spintronic and Magneto‐Electronic Applications

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 6, June 2026.
DFT calculations (FPLAPW+GGA+U) on tetragonal AB2C2 (A=ce, pr, Nd; B=Li; C=sb) zintl compounds reval ferromagnetic metallic ground states with curie temperature exceeding 300K (up to 1389K for NdLi2Sb2) identifying these materials as promising candidates for spin‐polarized current sources in next generation spintronic devices.

Heart Rate Variability, Parental Stress, Child's Challenging Behaviour and Advanced Glycation End Products in Parents of Children With Chronic Conditions

open access: yesStress and Health, Volume 42, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Child's challenging behaviours can pose complex, highly stressful demands on parents. Such chronic stress may affect autonomic regulation, particularly vagal balance, and increase oxidative stress and the risk of developing chronic diseases.

Prediction Efficiency Skill Scores for Event Detection Analysis

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 24, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Prediction efficiency (PE) is a skill score that compares the data‐model metric of mean square error against the variance of the observations (i.e., using the average of the observed values as the “reference model” in the general skill score formula).

Syn‐ to Post‐Collisional Tectonic History of the Paleo‐Tethyan Orogenic Belt: Insights From Triassic Igneous Rocks in the North–Central Tibetan Plateau, China

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 27, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract The closure of the Paleo‐Tethys Ocean was one of the most important global geological events which formed the framework of the East Asian continent during the early Mesozoic. The Longmu Co‐Shuanghu suture zone is considered to record closure of the main basin of the Paleo‐Tethys Ocean.
