Selective Reflection of Chiral Ferroelectric Nematic Liquid Crystals Tuned by Electric Field Along the Helix Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
It is demonstrated that in chiral ferroelectric nematic liquid crystals sandwiched between electrically conducting transparent plates, the reflection color can be reversibly tuned by electric fields applied along the helix axis. The proposed theoretical model, assuming field‐induced coiling of the helix axis, accounts for all observations.

Superconductivity near a ferroelectric quantum critical point in ultralow-density Dirac materials

open access: yes, 2019
The experimental observation of superconductivity in doped semimetals and semiconductors, where the Fermi energy is comparable to or smaller than the characteristic phonon frequencies, is not captured by the conventional theory. In this paper, we propose

Dielectric relaxation in chevron surface stabilized ferroelectric liquid crystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The dielectric response of surface stabilized ferroelectric liquid crystals with chevron layer structure is studied within low and intermediate frequency ranges, characteristic for collective molecular excitations.

Helix Alignment, Chevrons, and Edge Dislocations in Twist‐Bend Ferroelectric Nematics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The recently discovered twist‐bend ferroelectric nematic (NTBF) is the new member of the multiferroic family, representing a fluid with an oblique helicoidal (heliconical) periodic structure of spontaneous electric polarization. The work presents a thorough exploration of the material properties of this phase, how the periodic modulation of ...

Multiferroicity in an organic charge-transfer salt: Electric-dipole-driven magnetism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Multiferroics, showing simultaneous ordering of electrical and magnetic degrees of freedom, are remarkable materials as seen from both the academic and technological points of view.

Wavy‐Interlocked Stretchable Triboelectric Nanogenerators Enhanced by Liquid Metal Microflowers for Self‐Powered Wearable Motion Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Schematic showing a stretchable triboelectric nanogenerator based on interlocked wavy architectures that uses EGaIn microflower‐embedded PVDF‐TrFE and Nylon‐6 nanofiber membranes. The multi‐petaled, electron‐rich EGaIn microflowers enhance interfacial polarization and capacitance, while the interlocked wavy architecture enlarges the effective contact ...

New High‐Tc Charge‐Transfer Multiferroicity in the Quasi‐2D Antiferromagnet CrSbS3

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Low‐dimensional magnets, particularly 2D systems, offer a rich platform for realizing unconventional multiferroic mechanisms, especially when multiple polarization channels coexist. In the quasi‐2D antiferromagnet CrSbS3, which crystallizes in the centrosymmetric orthorhombic space group Pnma and orders magnetically at TN ≈ 90 K, two ...

Ferrielectricity in smectic-C* dechiralisation lines lattices

open access: yes, 2015
Recent experiments probing a new ferroelectric liquid crystal (CLF08) confined in cells with planar alignment have shown dielectric and optic anomalies suggesting the onset of ferrielectric ordering within the surface lattice of dechiralisation lines. We

Flexible Unusual Ternary‐Component Graded‐Modulus Dielectric Films with High‐Density Capacitive Energy Storage

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hierarchical PP–LSR107–BaTiO3 nanocomposite films are fabricated by one‐step extrusion and stretching for roll‐to‐roll manufacture, combining high energy storage and processing flexibility. LSR107 surrounds BaTiO3‐rich regions, locating amorphous PP, decreasing defects, and introducing deep traps that homogenize the electric field and suppress charge ...

Nonlinear optical properties of a channel waveguide produced with crosslinkable ferroelectric liquid crystals

open access: yes, 1999
A binary mixture of ferroelectric liquid crystals (FLCs) was used for the design of a channel waveguide. The FLCs possess two important functionalities: a chromophore with a high hyperpolarizability $\beta$ and photoreactive groups.
