Climate change and crop resilience: harnessing metabolomics for predicting stress tolerance

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Summarised methodology for metabolite biomarker discovery and genomic targets selection for those metabolites to predict high‐throughput phenotypic and agronomic traits of interest for direct uptake in breeding programmes. Summary Global warming is driving climate change to levels not experienced since the advent of agriculture, primarily due to ...

Quality Assessment of Festuca Arundinacea (Schreb.) Seeds Through Laboratory

open access: yes, 2012
Festuca Arundinacea  is one of the most valuable fodder plants, successfully grown in România. Festuca Arundinacea crop quality depends on the quality of seeds, therefore vigour tests are essential, as they describe the behaviour of seeds under ...

The effect of water extracts from leaves of Festuca rubra, F. ovina and F. Arundinacea on the initial growth and development of other grass species

open access: yesActa Agrobotanica, 2013
The allelopathic effect of plants is one of the least known factors determining the stability of lawn swards. Leaves are a rich source of allelopathic substances. Washed out by rain or dew drops, or released during biomass decomposition, these substances

The Effects of Some Cover Crops on Yield and Fruit Quality in Persimmon (Diospyros kaki L.)

open access: yesTürkiye Tarımsal Araştırmalar Dergisi, 2020
This study was carried out in Samsun province between 2013 and 2014 to investigate the effects of some cover crops, used for weed control in the persimmon orchards, on yield and quality of the fruits. The study was conducted according to the randomized

UAV‐based RGB and multispectral vegetation indices as alternatives to light box‐derived dark green color index for turfgrass color assessment

open access: yesThe Plant Phenome Journal, Volume 9, Issue 1, December 2026.
Abstract Traditionally, turfgrass color has been assessed through visual ratings or light box‐based digital image analysis, methods that are either subjective or labor‐intensive. In this study, we evaluated the potential of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)‐based multispectral and red‐green‐blue (RGB) imagery as a high‐throughput alternative for capturing ...

Cirsium arvense management with electrical weed control and clopyralid

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 7, Page 6575-6584, July 2026.
Electrical weed control (EWC) treatments reduced Cirsium arvense biomass by ≤95% and suppressed new shoot emergence by 70–95%, achieving control comparable to clopyralid. Sequential or integrated applications enhanced efficacy, demonstrating EWC's potential as a nonchemical tool for perennial weed management in orchard systems.

Herbage productivity, chemical composition and persistence of introduced grass cultivars in mountain area

open access: yesMljekarstvo, 2006
The seeds for grassland establishment and renovation have been mostly imported into the Republic of Croatia. The aim of the present research was to determine yield, chemical composition and persistence of 13 introduced grass cultivars (cv.) in the hilly ...

Festuca pratensis-like Subgenome Reassembly from a “Chromosomal Cocktail” in the Intergeneric Festulolium (Poaceae) Hybrid: A Rare Chromoanagenesis Event in Grasses

open access: yesPlants, 2023
Festuca and Lolium grass species are used for Festulolium hybrid variety production where they display trait complementarities. However, at the genome level, they show antagonisms and a broad scale of rearrangements.
