Unrecognized maternal heart rate artefact in cases of perinatal mortality reported to the United States Food and Drug Administration from 2009 to 2019: a critical patient safety issue

open access: yesBMC Pregnancy and Childbirth, 2019
Background Maternal heart rate artefact is a signal processing error whereby the fetal heart rate is masked by the maternal pulse, potentially leading to danger by failure to recognize an abnormal fetal heart rate or a pre-existing fetal death.

The C‐terminal region of KIF26B is indispensable for nephron progenitor condensation and kidney formation in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KIF26B plays an important role in kidney development. We engineered mice lacking the C‐terminal region of KIF26B and found severe kidney defects, including bilateral renal agenesis, similar to full Kif26b knockout mice. The mutation disrupted nephron progenitor condensation and reduced Gdnf‐Wnt11 signaling, showing that the KIF26B C‐terminal region is ...

Hydrostatic pressure activates HIF‐1α via β‐catenin to promote stemness in breast cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
To mimic the elevated intestinal fluid pressure in breast cancers, we loaded human breast cancer cells (MCF‐7, MDA‐MB‐453, and BT‐474) to 50 mmHg hydrostatic pressure. Hydrostatic pressure exposure upregulated HIF‐1α and induced stemness in MCF‐7 and BT‐474 cells.

What is the role of intrauterine transfusion after single intrauterine death in monochorionic twin pregnancies? Evidence from a systematic review and meta-analysis

open access: yesThe Journal of Maternal-Fetal & Neonatal Medicine
Objective To investigate the role of intrauterine transfusion (IUT) in affecting the outcome of the surviving twin showing sign of fetal anemia after a single intrauterine fetal death (IUFD) in monochorionic (MC) twin pregnancies. Methods PubMed, Medline ...

Aquaporin‐3 and aquaporin‐5 impact the development of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma spheroids

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Schematic representation of the role of aquaporin‐3 (AQP3) and aquaporin‐5 (AQP5) in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Both proteins are upregulated in PDAC and are associated with tumor progression and metastatic potential. Silencing AQP3 or AQP5 in PDAC spheroids results in decreased diameter, area, and overall growth, underscoring their key ...

Prenatal Predictors of Fetal and Neonatal Death in Truncus Arteriosus: A Fetal Heart Society Research Collaborative Study

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease
Background Fetal and neonatal outcomes and factors increasing mortality risk in fetal truncus arteriosus are not well characterized. We aimed to examine the prenatally encountered cardiac spectrum, define extracardiac and genetic associations, explore ...

Hyperosmotic stress‐induced redistribution of pre‐mRNA cleavage factor I subunits is associated with shifts in alternative polyadenylation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Hyperosmotic stress triggers the relocation of the CFIm complex from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This shift creates a nuclear ‘stoichiometric bottleneck’, limiting CFIm availability for mRNA processing. Consequently, specific mRNAs like NUDT21 and DICER1 undergo targeted 3′UTR shortening, demonstrating how spatial protein dynamics drive rapid ...

The Effect of Pregnancy-Adaptation Training Package on the Anxiety of Pregnant Women with a Prior History of Fetal or Neonatal Death [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Midwifery & Reproductive Health, 2015
