Blood Plasma Proteins in Fetal Goats and Sheep.

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1958
SummaryElectrophoretic separation of fetal and maternal plasma proteins in goats and sheep revealed that the fetal plasma lacks γ-globulins and exhibits an additional peak in the area of α1-globulins. This peak probably corresponds to fetuin. Quantitative conditions of fetal plasma proteins seem to depend largely on age of the fetus.

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Expression of the prostaglandin F synthase AKR1B1 and the prostaglandin transporter SLCO2A1 in human fetal membranes in relation to spontaneous term and preterm labour

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2014
Background: Human labour is a complex series of cellular and molecular events that occur at the materno-fetal and uterine levels. Many hypotheses have been proposed for the initiation of human labour, one hypothesis suggests that maturation of the fetus ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

A ratiometric catalog of protein isoform shifts in the cardiac fetal gene program

open access: yesJCI Insight
Pathological cardiac remodeling is associated with the reactivation of fetal genes, yet the extent of the heart’s fetal gene program and its impact on proteome compositions remain incompletely understood.

The human fetal adrenal produces cortisol but no detectable aldosterone throughout the second trimester

open access: yesBMC Medicine, 2018
Background Human fetal adrenal glands are highly active and, with the placenta, regulate circulating progesterone, estrogen and corticosteroids in the fetus. At birth the adrenals are essential for neonate salt retention through secretion of aldosterone,

Differential proteomic analysis of fetal and geriatric lumbar nucleus pulposus: immunoinflammation and age-related intervertebral disc degeneration

open access: yesBMC Musculoskeletal Disorders, 2020
Background Intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) is a major cause of low back pain. Although the mechanism of degeneration remains unclear, aging has been recognized as a key risk factor for IVDD.

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

Mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR) activation during ruminant mammary development and function : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Animal Science at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This thesis examines the abundance of total and activated mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway components in the developing and functional ruminant mammary gland. mTOR pathway activation is stimulated by a wide range of intra- and extracellular

C-terminal fusion of eGFP to the bradykinin B-2 receptor strongly affects down-regulation but not receptor internalization or signaling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A functional comparison was made between the wildtype bradykinin B, receptor (B(2)wt) and the chimera B(2)eGFP (enhanced green-fluorescent protein fused to the C-terminus of B(2)Wt), both stably expressed in HEK 293 cells.
