Which chart and which cut-point: deciding on the INTERGROWTH, World Health Organization, or Hadlock fetal growth chart

open access: yesBMC Pregnancy and Childbirth, 2022
Objective To determine how various centile cut points on the INTERGROWTH-21st (INTERGROWTH), World Health Organization (WHO), and Hadlock fetal growth charts predict perinatal morbidity/mortality, and how this relates to choosing a fetal growth chart for

ROLE OF FETAL THIGH CIRCUMFERENCE IN ESTIMATION OF BIRTH WEIGHT BY ULTRASOUND [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the accuracy and usefulness of predicting birth weight by measuring fetal thigh circumference by ultrasound. METHODS: In 110 pregnant women, fetuses without structural or chromosomal anomalies were studied prospectively and cross ...

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

The accuracy of ultrasound in the estimation of the actual birth weight at term pregnancies in a sample from Erbil city [PDF]

open access: yesZanco Journal of Medical Sciences, 2018
Background and objectives: Estimation of fetal weight is an important component of maternity health care, especially in the management and planning of the delivery mode, and this will play a big role in newborn and maternal safety.

Assisted reproduction causes placental maldevelopment and dysfunction linked to reduced fetal weight in mice

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2015
Compelling evidence indicates that stress in utero, as manifested by low birth weight (LBW), increases the risk of metabolic syndrome in adulthood. Singletons conceived by assisted reproductive technology (ART) display a significant increase in LBW risk ...

Glycosylated LGALS3BP is highly secreted by bladder cancer cells and represents a novel urinary disease biomarker

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urinary LGALS3BP is elevated in bladder cancer patients compared to healthy controls as detected by the 1959 antibody–based ELISA. The antibody shows enhanced reactivity to the high‐mannose glycosylated variant secreted by cancer cells treated with kifunensine (KIF).

Association between fetal weight and amniotic fluid index in women of Central India

open access: yesAdvanced Biomedical Research, 2014
Background : The placenta is important for fetal growth and well-being. Defective placentation and impaired placental circulation may result in anomalies in fetal growth.

Effects of 2, 4, 5-Trichlorophenoxyacetic Acid on Swiss-Webster Mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
Pure and Commercial samples of the herbicide 2,4,5-trichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4,5- T) were tested on Swiss-Webster mice for: (1) interruption of the estrus cycle and (2) teratogenic effects.

A common genetic variant at 15q25 modifies the associations of maternal smoking during pregnancy with fetal growth: The generation r study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Objective: Maternal smoking during pregnancy is associated with fetal growth retardation. We examined whether a common genetic variant at chromosome 15q25 (rs1051730), which is known to be involved in nicotine metabolism, modifies the associations of ...

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.
