Phase-Sensitive Mode Conversion and Equalization in a Few Mode Fiber Through Parametric Interactions [PDF]
The parametric interaction in few mode fibers is theoretically and numerically studied in the particular case in which the signal and the idler waves are frequency degenerate but mode nondegenerate.

Measuring Distributed Mode Scattering in Long, Few-Moded Fibers [PDF]
We present measurements of higher-order modes in lengths of few-moded fibers up to 0.5 km long using Spatially and Spectrally resolved (S2) imaging. Both discrete scattering events and mode-mixing due to distributed scattering are measured.

Fast and accurate modelling of nonlinear pulse propagation in graded-index multimode fibers [PDF]
We develop a model for the description of nonlinear pulse propagation in multimode optical fibers with a parabolic refractive index profile. It consists in a 1+1D generalized nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation with a periodic nonlinear coefficient, which ...

Mode and Wavelength-Switchable Pulsed Fiber Laser With Few-Mode Fiber Grating [PDF]
We propose and demonstrate a mode and wavelength-switchable pulsed fiber laser using two-mode fiber Bragg grating (TM-FBG) as both transverse mode converter and wavelength selector. The mode-locking mechanism is based on saturable absorption of semiconductor saturable absorption mirror (SESAM).

Mode generation in elliptical core few mode fiber [PDF]
In this paper, mode generation based on an elliptical core few mode fiber (EC-FMF) is devised through an inverse function, designed using split step beam propagation method (BPM). The undesired modes from an EC-FMF are eliminated through an appended waveguide computed from the inverse phase of undesired modes.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

The traditional single-mode fiber (SMF) optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) may not be able to accurately detect and locate fault events in the dead zone of few-mode fiber (FMF) links.
