Read My Leads: Subject‐Specific RF Hazard Assessment and Mitigation for DBS Implants in MRI

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 95, Issue 4, Page 2316-2330, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose To develop and validate a framework for personalized, implant‐specific MRI safety assessments using feedback from commercial deep brain stimulation (DBS) systems. To further use this framework to suppress RF‐induced heating with minimum compromise in imaging performance.

High‐Rate Cross‐Channel Entanglement Swapping Between Independent On‐Chip Sources

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 9, 13 February 2026.
To interconnect individual chip‐based quantum sources, high‐performance entanglement swapping is indispensable. Here, using low‐loss silicon chips with waveguide structure and frequency‐offset pumps, this work demonstrates high‐rate cross‐channel entanglement swapping.

A Lightweight Skin‐Adhesive Fiber Bragg Grating Sensor to Advance Minimally Invasive Healthcare Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, Volume 6, Issue 2, February 2026.
A novel self‐adhesive hydrogel matrix is engineered to embed a fiber Bragg grating sensor for real‐time monitoring of physiological strain signals. The developed system conforms to the skin without external supports and, thanks to the fiber–matrix mechanical coupling, captures both subtle and large‐scale deformations.

Orientation-Dependent Displacement Sensor Using an Inner Cladding Fiber Bragg Grating

open access: yesSensors, 2016
An orientation-dependent displacement sensor based on grating inscription over a fiber core and inner cladding has been demonstrated. The device comprises a short piece of multi-cladding fiber sandwiched between two standard single-mode fibers (SMFs ...

Point-by-point inscription of apodized fiber Bragg gratings

open access: yes, 2011
We demonstrate apodized fiber Bragg gratings inscribed with a point-by-point technique. We tailor the grating phase and coupling amplitude through precise control over the longitudinal and transverse position of each laser-inscribed modification.

Photonic Nyquist Pulse Generation Based on Phase-Modulated Fiber Bragg Gratings in Transmission

open access: yesPhotonics
Nyquist pulses are critical in optical communication networks and signal processing systems. We present, to our best knowledge, the first demonstration of all-optical Nyquist pulse generation using phase-modulated fiber Bragg gratings (PM-FBGs) in ...

Optically Heated Long-Period Grating as Temperature-Insensitive Fiber-Optic Refractive-Index Sensor

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2012
A temperature-insensitive fiber-optic refractive-index sensor based on optically heated long-period grating (LPG) is presented. The LPG is manufactured in a short section of cobalt-doped optical fiber (COF), which can be thermally stabilized through a ...

Development of low cost packaged fibre optic sensors for use in reinforced concrete structures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
There is an ongoing need to measure strains in reinforced concrete structures more reliably and under a range of circumstances e.g. long term durability (such as effects of cracking and reinforcement corrosion), response to normal working loads and ...

Strain-Independent Temperature Measurements with Surface-Glued Polarization-Maintaining Fiber Bragg Grating Sensor Elements

open access: yesSensors, 2019
A novel technique for strain and temperature decoupling with surface-glued fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) is presented and applied for strain-independent temperature measurements in a temperature range between −30 °C and 110 °C with ...
