A low cost, highly accurate and light intensity-independent sensor system for the analysis of fiber Bragg grating signals based on fiber Bragg gratings in the detection unit is presented. The setup is based on two fiber Bragg gratings used in reflection to analyse one sensing fiber Bragg grating.

Fiber Bragg gratings inscribed in nanobore fibers
Optics Letters, 2023The nanobore fiber (NBF) is a promising nanoscale optofluidic platform due to its long nanochannel and unique optical properties. However, the applications of NBF are only based on its original fiber geometry without extra functionalities so far, compared with various telecom fiber devices, which may limit its wide applications.

Chiral gratings with double helix symmetry were produced by twisting glass optical fiber with a noncircular core cross section as it passed through a miniature oven. We observed polarization-selective transmission in chiral fibers with pitches of tens of micrometers. Two modes of optical interaction were differentiated.

Narrowband fiber grating filters
IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, 1990Two techniques for the fabrication of fiber gratings with a narrowband filter response are reported. In the first technique, the reflection bandwidth is reduced by increasing the grating length. Fiber gratings 10 mm long have been made with a bandwidth of approximately 0.3 nm.

Array of grating–fiber couplers
Optics Letters, 1990Along a single-mode fiber a number M of grating-fiber couplers are fabricated at equal spacings L(0). The fiber is coiled so that the couplers lie side by side, forming a planar optical antenna array. With varying optical frequency the resulting radiation lobes sweep slowly along the meridional direction but fast along the orthogonal azimuthal ...

Fiber grating laser sensors have attracted considerable interests because they not only possess advantages of passive fiber grating sensors, such as compact size, inherent self-referencing capability, and multiplexing capability, but also offer higher signal-to-noise ratio.

Since the discovery of photosensitivity in optical fibers there has been great interest in the fabrication of Bragg gratings within the core of a fiber. The ability to inscribe intracore Bragg gratings in these photosensitive fibers has revolutionized the field of telecommunications and optical fiber based sensor technology.
