Random fiber Bragg grating Raman fiber laser

Optics Letters, 2014
We demonstrate for the first time to our knowledge a Raman random fiber laser (RRFL) based on a long random fiber Bragg grating (RFBG-RRFL). Unlike other recently demonstrated random fiber lasers that rely on incoherent Rayleigh scattering feedback, the present scheme uses randomly distributed phase shifts inside a fiber-meter long Bragg grating as a ...

Fiber mode conversion with tilted gratings in an optical fiber

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2001
The mode coupling in double-sided tilted gratings between the LP01 and LP11 modes is analyzed for three different excitation conditions. It is found that a number of modes, including various LP11q modes with different polarization states and TE01, TM01, and HE21 modes, can be formed through the mode conversion process in the gratings and with a linear ...

Fiber Bragg Gratings in Industrial Sensing

Optical Fiber Communication Conference/National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference 2013, 2013
The tutorial is based on technical experiences obtained during development and numerous practical industry deployments of fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors and sensor systems. Technical means will be analyzed, which make FBG to an attractive sensing solution: draw tower Bragg grating technology, sensor-specific fiber coatings, sensor packaging.

Fiber Bragg Grating

2012
Fiber optics has emerged as a promising sensing technology over the past two decades. Fiber optic sensors (FOS) have generated great interest due to their small size, immunity to electro-magnetic interference and radio frequency (RF) interference, inherent safety, and accuracy.

Fiber grating spectra

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 1997
In this paper, we describe the spectral characteristics that can be achieved in fiber reflection (Bragg) and transmission gratings. Both principles for understanding and tools for designing fiber gratings are emphasized. Examples are given to illustrate the wide variety of optical properties that are possible in fiber gratings.
