Fiber grating spectra

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 1997
In this paper, we describe the spectral characteristics that can be achieved in fiber reflection (Bragg) and transmission gratings. Both principles for understanding and tools for designing fiber gratings are emphasized. Examples are given to illustrate the wide variety of optical properties that are possible in fiber gratings.

Multiresonant Fiber Gratings

Optics and Photonics News, 2022
The mode control enabled by specialized gratings allows simultaneous sensing of multiple parameters in a single fiber strand—a potential game-changer.

Chiral Fiber Gratings

Science, 2004
Chiral gratings with double helix symmetry were produced by twisting glass optical fiber with a noncircular core cross section as it passed through a miniature oven. We observed polarization-selective transmission in chiral fibers with pitches of tens of micrometers. Two modes of optical interaction were differentiated.

Fiber Bragg gratings

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1997
Since the discovery of photosensitivity in optical fibers there has been great interest in the fabrication of Bragg gratings within the core of a fiber. The ability to inscribe intracore Bragg gratings in these photosensitive fibers has revolutionized the field of telecommunications and optical fiber based sensor technology.

Fiber grating sensors

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 1997
We review the recent developments in the area of optical fiber grating sensors, including quasi-distributed strain sensing using Bragg gratings, systems based on chirped gratings, intragrating sensing concepts, long period-based grating sensors, fiber grating laser-based systems, and interferometric sensor systems based on grating reflectors.

Fiber Bragg gratings inscribed in nanobore fibers

Optics Letters, 2023
The nanobore fiber (NBF) is a promising nanoscale optofluidic platform due to its long nanochannel and unique optical properties. However, the applications of NBF are only based on its original fiber geometry without extra functionalities so far, compared with various telecom fiber devices, which may limit its wide applications.
