This review examines passive, active, and hybrid liquid manipulation strategies, highlighting hybrid approaches as an emerging route to reconcile energy efficiency with adaptive control. By actively reconstructing passive surfaces to store programmable interfacial energy, hybrid systems enable flexible yet low‐power liquid transport, with perspectives ...

Implementation of Non-Linear Optical Materials Inside Microstructured Optical Fibers
2020 22nd International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2020The implementation of 2-methyl, 4-nitroaniline (MNA) inside the capillaries of a silica glass, endlessly single mode photonic crystal fiber, for the development of in-fiber based light conversion devices is reviewed here. The low-Abbe number, MNA is infiltrated from melt inside the silica glass photonic crystal fiber, while applying specific annealing ...

Multipoint Fiber Optic Refractometer with Optical Frequency Sweeping Non-linearity Compensation
Optical Fiber Sensors Conference 2020 Special Edition, 2021A multipoint fiber refractometer using a non-linearity compensation algorithm is presented. This algorithm permits improvement on the system resolution by one order of magnitude and, at the same time, allows the multipoint sensing.

On the soliton spectral efficiency in non-linear optical fibers
2016 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory (ISIT), 2016Optical fiber communications can be modeled using the non-linear Schrodinger equation, which is integrable. In this paper we show how integrability can be exploited to communicate using multisoliton pulses. Starting with a white Gaussian input signal, we use the known distributions of eigenvalues and scattering data to derive an analytical expression ...

Modeling of non-linear crosstalk in optical fiber
2009 International Conference on Emerging Trends in Electronic and Photonic Devices & Systems, 2009This article is intended to provide a new method for modeling of nonlinear crosstalk in optical communication system. It is necessary for the optical link designer to understand the transmission impairment due to fiber nonlinearity for efficient link design.

Modeling the non-linear index of optical fibers
OFC/NFOEC Technical Digest. Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 2005., 2005We propose and validate experimentally a simple model that allows us to calculate the nonlinear index, n/sub 2/, of any fiber type. Single-mode and higher-order-mode dispersion-compensating fibers (DCF) are investigated and n/sub 2/ dependence on chromatic dispersion is analyzed.

Non-linear optical properties of carbon nanotube-coated optical fiber gratings
Asia Communications and Photonics Conference, 2017In this paper, we fully investigate a nonlinear device based on a tilted fiber Bragg grating (TFBG) coated with single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs). We found that the non-linear optical properties were significantly effective in 6 degree tilted fiber Bragg grating and ∼1.3um thickness. The signal noise to ratio (SNR) of the FWM is up to 10.11dB.

Liquid-core fiber optics-transmission and non-linear effects
ICALEO '86: The Changing Frontiers of Optical Techniques for Industrial Measurement and Control, 1986We survey previous research on liquid-core fiber optics. These waveguides exhibit a number of interesting characteristics which are of use to sensing, spectroscopy, and communications. We discuss liquid-core optical fibers in regard to applications involving high-peak-power transmission of laser light.
