The nonlinear directional coupler. An analytic solution
Linear and nonlinear directional couplers are currently used in fiber optics communications. They may also play a role in multiphoton approaches to quantum information processing if accurate control is obtained over the phases and polarizations of the ...

Spatial Beam Self-Cleaning in Tapered Yb-Doped GRIN Multimode Fiber With Decelerating Nonlinearity
We experimentally demonstrate spatial beam self-cleaning in an Yb-doped graded-index multimode fiber taper, both in passive and active configurations. The input laser beam at 1064 nm was injected for propagation from the small to the large core ...

New solutions for the generalized resonant nonlinear Schrödinger equation
The resonant nonlinear Schrödinger’s equation portrays the wave propagation in fiber optics. In this work, we get new solutions using two powerful and effective analytical methods, namely: The Bernoulli sub-ODE method and the (G′G)-expansion method ...

Nonlinear soliton matching between optical fibers [PDF]
In this Letter, we propose a generic nonlinear coupling coefficient, η(NL)²=η|γ/β₂|(fiber2)/|γ/β₂|(fiber1), which gives a quantitative measure for the efficiency of nonlinear matching of optical fibers by describing how a fundamental soliton couples from one fiber into another.

We present an exact solution of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE) for beam propagation in nonlinear fiber optics. It is a lossy fiber system with the beam as solitons.

Signal-noise interaction in nonlinear optical fibers: a hydrodynamic approach [PDF]
We present a new perturbative approach to the study of signal-noise interactions in nonlinear optical fibers. The approach is based on the hydrodynamic formulation of the nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation that governs the propagation of light in the fiber.

A universal optical all-fiber omnipolarizer [PDF]
Wherever the polarization properties of a light beam are of concern, polarizers and polarizing beamsplitters (PBS) are indispensable devices in linear-, nonlinear-and quantum-optical schemes.

Nonlinear optics in a birefringent optical fiber
We extend the perturbation theory of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation for the study of perturbed (nonintegrable) forms of the vector equation. We derive a set of linear equations that describe the radiation field shed by the soliton as it propagates down a birefringent optical fiber.

Dispersion-dominated nonlinear fiber-optic channel [PDF]
We propose to apply a large predispersion (having the same sign as the transmission fiber) to an optical signal before the uncompensated fiber transmission in coherent communication systems. This technique is aimed at simplification of the following digital signal processing of nonlinear impairments.
