Pseudo-heterodyne signal processing scheme for interrogation of fiber Bragg grating sensor arrays [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
An intensity-based interrogation technique for arrays of fiber bragg grating (FBG) sensors is reported. The technique is based upon each FBG forming one mirror of a Michelson interferometer.

Study of an FBG-FP Cascaded Optical Fiber Current Transformer Based on Electrostrictive Material Coupling

open access: yesSensors
Aiming at the issues of low sensitivity and poor resistance to temperature and vibration interference in traditional optical fiber current transformers, as well as the structural complexity of magnetostrictive material-coupled sensors, this paper ...

Fiber Optic Fabry-Perot Current Sensor Integrated with Magnetic Fluid Using a Fiber Bragg Grating Demodulation

open access: yesSensors, 2015
An optical fiber current sensor based on Fabry-Perot interferometer using a fiber Bragg grating demodulation is proposed. Magnetic fluid is used as a sensitive medium in fiber optical Fabry-Perot (F-P) cavity for the optical characteristic of magnetic ...

Active Corrosion Protection of Sintered AA7075 Aluminum Alloy via Mn Powder Addition

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
AA7075 containing Mn‐rich particles is fabricated via spark plasma sintering using AA7075 and Mn powders. Corrosion resistance is evaluated through dip‐and‐dry tests using 0.1 M NaCl (pH 6.0), and mass loss decreases with increasing Mn addition. Mn‐rich particles function as a source of Mn ions, and formation of Mn‐accumulation films on Cu‐containing ...

A fiber-optic voltage sensor based on macrobending structure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We propose and demonstrate an optical voltage sensing scheme based on a macrobending optical fiber in a ratiometric power measurement system. This novel approach to sensing has not been utilized before and has the advantage that the sensor involves ...

Stretching the Printability Metric in Direct‐Ink Writing with Highly Extensible Yield‐Stress Fluids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces “drawability” as a new metric for assessing printability in direct‐ink writing, focusing on gap‐spanning performance and speed robustness. By designing yield‐stress fluids with high extensibility, we demonstrate that extensional strain‐to‐break significantly enhances printability.

Fiber optic, Faraday rotation current sensor [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
At the Second Megagauss Conference in 1979, there were reports of experiments that used the Faraday magneto-optic effect in a glass rod to measure large electric current pulses or magnetic fields.
