All-Optical Gain-Clamped Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier With Improved Noise Figure and Freedom From Relaxation Oscillation

IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2004
All-optical gain clamping scheme of erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) based on partial reflection of amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) into the EDFA is proposed and successfully demonstrated by using a coarse wavelength division multiplexing coupler with a mirror as an ASE reflector.

Theoretical analysis of spectral hole burning and relaxation oscillation in all-optical gain stabilized multichannel erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA)

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2001
The spectral hole burning effects and gain dynamics of all-optical gain clamped multichannel erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs) are modeled. The two-level laser model is used to write the propagation and rate equations of the inhomogeneous laser medium. The governing equations are an uncountable system of partial differential equations (PDEs). After

Self-sustained intensity oscillation of a laser diode introduced by a delayed electrical feedback using an optical fiber and an electrical amplifier

Applied Physics Letters, 1981
A self-sustained oscillation of laser light intensity emitted by a laser diode was newly observed by a delayed network using an optical fiber and an electrical feedback system. The time delay (transit time) of the light beam through the optical fiber plus the time delay of the electrical signal in the electrical feedback system determines the ...

Fiber Optical Parametric Amplifiers, Oscillators and Related Devices

2007
This book, published in 2007, provides comprehensive coverage of the theory and practice of OPAs and related devices, including fiber optical parametric oscillators (OPOs). After introducing the field, the theory and techniques behind all types of fiber OPAs are covered starting from first principles - topics include the scalar and vector OPA theory ...
