Quality carbon fibers from fractionated lignin
Green Chemistry, 2017A strategy was developed to produce quality carbon fibers from industrial waste lignin. The strategy employs an enzyme-mediator system to efficiently fractionate lignin into soluble and insoluble fractions, where the latter serves as a superior carbon fiber precursor.

The Quality of Fiber Count Data
Applied Industrial Hygiene, 1989Abstract Optical fiber counts are used to determine asbestos exposure, so it is important to assess, control, and document the quality of those counts. These functions are the responsibility of the quality assurance (QA) coordinator in each laboratory.

Frost kill and kenaf fiber quality
Industrial Crops and Products, 1999Abstract Kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus) grown in northern Mississippi and elsewhere often is injured by early frost and killed before harvest. Frost kill often is associated with fungal growth or rot, so its effect on fiber quality is a major concern. Fiber processing also affects the quality and chemical composition of fibers. Therefore, this study was

Cotton Breeding for Fiber Quality Improvement
2014Cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) is the world’s leading fiber crop, grown or processed in many countries, providing a major contribution to their economies. Yield is economically most important to a producer which drives cultivar development and adoption; however, fiber quality is the primary focus for spinning mills. Cotton fiber quality must improve to

Fiber quality testing by holography methods
SPIE Proceedings, 2003Fiber quality estimation by holographic interferometry correlator is presented. The method gives the possibility to test fiber seams and quality homogeneity of the fiber in the laboratory condition. The method is very simple and gives one possibility to provide automatic control of the fiber fabrication.

Beam quality of photonic-crystal fibers
Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2005In this paper, we investigate the beam quality of photonic-crystal fibers (PCFs) with one, three, and seven missing airholes. The beam quality factor M/sup 2/ of a PCF is generally larger than unity, even if it is single mode. The results are especially important for the design and measurements of single-mode PCF lasers. A comparison between an M/sup 2/

High-quality acrylic fibers from waste textiles
Science of The Total EnvironmentThe objective of this work is to develop a closed-loop recycling method specifically tailored for acrylic fibers. Recycling waste acrylic is essential, given the vast volumes of acrylic-containing textiles produced yearly and the strong capability of acrylics to generate toxic microplastics.

Harvester-Based Cotton Fiber Quality Sensor
2009 Reno, Nevada, June 21 - June 24, 2009, 2009A multispectral sensor for in-situ cotton fiber quality measurement was developed. The sensor consists of a camera, four optical filters, a halogen light source, a fiber sampling device, and an image collection and processing system. The optical filters for the camera were selected based on the multiple linear regression analyses with the 100-nm ...

Comparison of the beam quality in fiber amplifier employing tapered fiber and uniform fiber
International Photonics and OptoElectronics Meeting 2019 (OFDA, OEDI, ISST, PE, LST, TSA), 2019Simulation results of laser beam quality in fiber amplifier show that the output laser beam quality of the tapered fiber is much better than that of the uniform fiber amplifier under the same conditions.
