In vivo fiber tractography using DT-MRI data [PDF]

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, 2000
Fiber tract trajectories in coherently organized brain white matter pathways were computed from in vivo diffusion tensor magnetic resonance imaging (DT-MRI) data. First, a continuous diffusion tensor field is constructed from this discrete, noisy, measured DT-MRI data. Then a Frenet equation, describing the evolution of a fiber tract, was solved.

In Vivo Tractography of Fetal Association Fibers

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2015
Association fibers connect different cortical areas within the same hemisphere and constitute an essential anatomical substrate for a diverse range of higher cognitive functions. So far a comprehensive description of the prenatal in vivo morphology of these functionally important pathways is lacking. In the present study, diffusion tensor imaging (DTI)

Genetic white matter fiber tractography with global optimization [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Neuroscience Methods, 2009
Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) tractography is a novel technique that can delineate the trajectories between cortical region of the human brain non-invasively. In this paper, a novel DTI based white matter fiber tractography using genetic algorithm is presented.

Topological organization of whole-brain white matter in HIV infection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Infection with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is associated with neuroimaging alterations. However, little is known about the topological organization of whole-brain networks and the corresponding association with cognition.

Improved fiber tractography with Bayesian tensor regularization

open access: yesNeuroImage, 2006
Diffusion tensor tractography suffers from the effects of noise and partial volume averaging (PVA). For reliable reconstruction of fiber pathways, tracking algorithms that are robust to these artifacts are called for. To meet this need, the present study establishes a novel Bayesian regularization framework for fiber tracking that takes into account ...

3D stochastic completion fields for fiber tractography [PDF]

open access: yes2009 IEEE Computer Society Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Workshops, 2009
We approach the problem of fiber tractography from the viewpoint that a computational theory should relate to the underlying quantity that is being measured - the diffusion of water molecules. We characterize the Brownian motion of water by a 3D random walk described by a stochastic non-linear differential equation.

Altered structural and effective connectivity in anorexia and bulimia nervosa in circuits that regulate energy and reward homeostasis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Anorexia and bulimia nervosa are severe eating disorders that share many behaviors. Structural and functional brain circuits could provide biological links that those disorders have in common.

Diffusion tensor tractography of brainstem fibers and its application in pain.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
Evaluation of brainstem pathways with diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and tractography may provide insights into pathophysiologies associated with dysfunction of key brainstem circuits.

Alterations in fiber pathways reveal brain tumor typology: a diffusion tractography study [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ, 2014
Conventional structural Magnetic Resonance (MR) techniques can accurately identify brain tumors but do not provide exhaustive information about the integrity of the surrounding/embedded white matter (WM).

Probing white-matter microstructure with higher-order diffusion tensors and susceptibility tensor MRI. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Diffusion MRI has become an invaluable tool for studying white matter microstructure and brain connectivity. The emergence of quantitative susceptibility mapping and susceptibility tensor imaging (STI) has provided another unique tool for assessing the ...
