ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Multiple sclerosis (MS) exhibits racially disparate rates of disease progression. Black people with MS (B‐PwMS) experience a more severe disease course than non‐Hispanic White people with MS (NHW‐PwMS). Here we investigated structural and functional connectivity as well as structure–function decoupling in the ...

AI‐Driven Mapping of Seizure Spread Patterns
Objective The focus of epilepsy research has largely been on seizure onset; however, physicians typically examine the patterns of seizure spread past seizure onset as well. This study aims to align automated seizure analysis with clinical practice, leverage deep learning to standardize seizure annotations that varies among physicians, and understand ...

Scoping literature review: Comparing MRI tractography methods for optic radiation analysis
Abstract Accurate tractography mapping of the optic radiations is essential to avoiding post‐operative visual field deficits in patients undergoing temporal lobe surgery. This literature review highlights the current landscape of MRI tractography methods that are used to delineate the optic radiations (ORs), with a particular focus on the anterior ...

Abstract Teaching white matter (WM) anatomy to undergraduates is challenging. This is partly because WM fibers are oriented intricately and Klingler's dissection, the gold standard method used to demonstrate it, often requires time, advanced anatomical knowledge, and refined dissection skills.

Improved fiber tractography with Bayesian tensor regularization
Diffusion tensor tractography suffers from the effects of noise and partial volume averaging (PVA). For reliable reconstruction of fiber pathways, tracking algorithms that are robust to these artifacts are called for. To meet this need, the present study establishes a novel Bayesian regularization framework for fiber tracking that takes into account ...

In vivo fiber tractography using DT-MRI data [PDF]
Fiber tract trajectories in coherently organized brain white matter pathways were computed from in vivo diffusion tensor magnetic resonance imaging (DT-MRI) data. First, a continuous diffusion tensor field is constructed from this discrete, noisy, measured DT-MRI data. Then a Frenet equation, describing the evolution of a fiber tract, was solved.

Show Me the Brain!!: A modern approach to neuroanatomy education
Abstract Show Me the Brain!! (SMtB) is a digital system for interactive graphics that is designed to support instruction in neuroanatomy and neuroscience. It will soon be made open‐source and freely available. SMtB bridges medical and traditional neuroanatomy instruction with the computational systems and representational conventions common in ...
