Novel technique for measuring dispersion and detuning of a UV written silica-on-silicon waveguide

open access: yes, 2010
We shall present a new method of measuring the dispersive properties of UV written waveguides in the silica-on-silicon platform used to fabricate planar Bragg gratings.

Novel Sulfur‐Rich Polymers from Inverse Vulcanization as Functional Building Blocks for Photonics

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
Isopropenyl aromatic comonomers, in particular novel 2,7‐diisopropenylfluorene and 2,8‐diisopropenyldibenzothiophene, synthesized by sustainable, facile, single‐step SMCCR from available brominated substrates are exploited in the Inverse Vulcanization process to obtain functional Sulfur‐rich macromolecular materials.

Quasi‐Distributed Static/Dynamic Strain Detection of Wind Turbine Blades Based on Fibre Bragg Grating Arrays Sensing

open access: yesHigh Voltage
This paper presents a quasi‐distributed sensing method for wind turbine blade strain using fibre Bragg grating (FBG) arrays. The sensitive area of the blade strain variation is determined by simulation, and three fibre grating arrays are arranged on the ...

Acousto-optic superlattice modulator using Fibre Bragg grating

open access: yes, 1997
A modulator is reported in which an extensional acoustic wave is launched along a fiber Bragg grating. The acousto-optic superlattice effect causes an enhancement in reflectivity within a narrow spectral region on both sides of the Bragg wavelength.

From 0D to 3D liquid crystal elastomers architectures: Fabrications and applications

open access: yesResponsive Materials, EarlyView.
This review presents a dimension‐oriented overview of liquid crystal elastomers (LCEs), highlighting their molecular alignment, fabrication strategies, and programmable deformations from 0D particles to 3D architectures. Emphasis is placed on how dimensionality guides design principles, enables diverse actuation modes, and bridges fundamental ...
