Azobenzene-based gel coated fibre Bragg grating sensor for moisture measurement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A fibre Bragg grating sensor is coated with a novel polymer gel in order to investigate its suitability for nondestructive measurement of moisture in materials that can potentially lose their integrity due to moisture ingress.

Magnetically programmable fibre Bragg gratings

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1998
An attractive force between magnetic poles was utilised to produce significant wavelength shifts in fibre Bragg gratings. Programmable magnets were used to controllably strain and shift the wavelength of the grating by more than 15 nm. The wavelength tuning is fast and the device requires no power to maintain the shifted wavelengths.

Point by Point Inscribed Tilted Fibre Bragg Gratings [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
To the best of our knowledge the inscription of tilted fibre Bragg gratings via the point by point method, without beam shaping, has been demonstrated for the first time.

Ultra-wide detuning planar Bragg grating fabrication technique based on direct UV grating writing with electro-optic phase modulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A direct UV grating writing technique based on phase-controlled interferometry is proposed and demonstrated in a silica-on-silicon platform, with a wider wavelength detuning range than any previously reported UV writing technology.

Fibre Bragg gratings fabrication in four core fibres [PDF]

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 2016
Due to the limitation of the lens effect of the optical fibre and the inhomogeneity of the laser fluence on different cores, it is still challenging to controllably inscribe different fibre Bragg gratings (FBGs) in multicore fibres. In this article, we reported the FBG inscription in four core fibres (FCFs), whose cores are arranged in the corners of a

Trends in the design of wavelength-based optical fibre biosensors (2008–2018)

open access: yesBiosensors and Bioelectronics: X, 2019
During the last decades, both governments and companies have been committed to the continuous checking of biological parameters, which can prevent extra costs to administrations. A very efficient way to address this issue is by designing biosensors. This

Long continuously chirped fibre Bragg gratings for compensation of linear- and 3rd order-dispersion

open access: yes, 1997
For the first time long broadband chirped fibre Bragg gratings with a dispersion profile designed to compensate 3rd order-dispersion are presented. These results demonstrate how the increased demands for dispersion compensation at very high bit-rates can
