Development of a ferromagnetic fibre metal laminate [PDF]
Abstract This study introduces the concept of a multifunctional fibre metal laminate (FML), specifically, one which utilises ferromagnetic foil in combination with carbon fibre reinforced epoxy to produce a FML which is magnetically functional and structurally efficient.

The static and fatigue response of metal laminate and hybrid fibre-metal laminate doublers joints under tension loading [PDF]
Experimental and numerical studies have been undertaken on metal laminate (ML) doublers and hybrid fibre-metal (aluminium-Glare) laminate (FML) doublers to investigate their static and fatigue response under tension loading.

Delamination buckling of fibre–metal laminates
Composites Science and Technology, 2001A fibre–metal laminate is a composite of metal and fibre-reinforced prepreg layers. An example of such a material is Glare. It consists of alternating layers of aluminium and glass-fibre-reinforced prepreg. The material can be sensitive to delamination buckling, which occurs when a partially delaminated panel is subjected to a compressive force.

Impact-under-load damage tolerance of a fibre metal laminate [PDF]
The effect of in-plane loading on the low energy impact damage tolerance of a fibre metal laminate (FML) is experimentally investigated. The FML consisted of stacked layers of aluminium alloy (AA2024-T3) and S2-glass/epoxy (GFRP) composite.

Recycling of aluminum from fibre metal laminates
Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University (Science), 2012Recycling of aluminum alloy scrap obtained from delaminated fibre metal laminates (FMLs) was studied through high temperature refining in the presence of a salt flux. The aluminum alloy scrap contains approximately mass fraction w(Cu) = 4.4%, w(Mg) = 1.1% and w(Mn) = 0.6% (2024 aluminum alloy).

Property Optimisation in Fibre Metal Laminates
Applied Composite Materials, 2004Fibre Metal Laminates (FMLs) are hybrid materials, which consist of thin metal sheets bonded together with alternating unidirectional fibre layers. This material concept has resulted in superior fatigue characteristics with respect to the metallic counterpart.

Fibre metal laminates: a state of the art
International Journal of Materials and Product Technology, 2002Fibre Metal Laminates (e.g. Glare) are built up as a laminated bonded structure of thin metallic layers and alternating fibre reinforced adhesive layers. This family of materials was developed at Delft University by laboratory testing and design projects, starting in the 1980s.

Static Properties of Fibre Metal Laminates
Applied Composite Materials, 2003In this article a brief overview of the static properties of Fibre Metal Laminates is given. Starting with the stress-strain relation, an effective calculation tool for uniaxial stress-strain curves is given. The method is valid for all Glare types. The Norris failure model is described in combination with a Metal Volume Fraction approach leading to a ...
