Propagation of Fibrillar Structural Forms in Proteins Stopped by Naturally Occurring Short Polypeptide Chain Fragments

open access: yesPharmaceuticals, 2017
Amyloids characterized by unbounded growth of fibrillar structures cause many pathological processes. Such unbounded propagation is due to the presence of a propagating hydrophobicity field around the fibril’s main axis, preventing its closure (unlike in

Polymorphism of stable collagen fibrils [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Collagen fibrils are versatile self-assembled structures that provide mechanical integrity within mammalian tissues. The radius of collagen fibrils vary widely depending on experimental conditions \textit{in vitro} or anatomical location \textit{in vivo}.

Correlation Between Fecal Microbiota and Corticosteroid Responsiveness in Primary Immune Thrombocytopenia: an Exploratory Study

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study uses gut microbiome data to predict corticosteroid response in patients with immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). Fecal samples from 212 patients with ITP are sequenced. Six machine‐learning algorithms are used to train predictive models. The support vector machine‐based model integrated clinical data and selected microbial species, diversities ...

A Novel Protein NAB1‐356 Encoded by circRNA circNAB1 Mitigates Atrial Fibrillation by Reducing Inflammation and Fibrosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The circRNA circNAB1 is downregulated in AF patient. Silencing circNAB1 promotes collagen deposition and inflammation, whereas overexpression reduces AF susceptibility. circNAB1 encodes the protein NAB1 356 that interacts with EGR1 to mitigate fibrosis and inflammation.

Evaluation of factors associated with selection for coronary angiography and in‐hospital mortality among patients presenting with out‐of‐hospital cardiac arrest without ST‐segment elevation

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, Volume 100, Issue 7, Page 1159-1170, December 1, 2022., 2022
Abstract Background Clinical factors favouring coronary angiography (CA) selection and variables associated with in‐hospital mortality among patients presenting with out‐of‐hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) without ST‐segment elevation (STE) remain unclear.

Impact of an Emergency Department Observation Unit Management Algorithm for Atrial Fibrillation

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2016
BackgroundAtrial fibrillation (AF) is a common, growing, and costly medical condition. We aimed to evaluate the impact of a management algorithm for symptomatic AF that used an emergency department observation unit on hospital admission rates and patient
