The Preparation of Human Fibrinolysin (Plasmin)

Vox Sanguinis, 1960
SummaryTo date, methods reported for purifying human profibrinolysin have given erratic yields and purities. A versatile method is described for purification which can be used with most preparations of Fraction III from human plasma. This method results in a good yield of a highly purified profibrinolysin.

Lability of Fibrinolysin

Nature, 1959
FEARNLEY'S method for estimating fibrinolytic activity of normal blood1 is based on the fact that the clot formed by adding thrombin to blood diluted 1 : 10 with phosphate buffer will lyse on incubation. This lytic activity may be lost if the specimen is permitted to stand for hours or even minutes at room temperature.

Enzymatic débridement with bovine fibrinolysin

The American Journal of Surgery, 1959
Abstract Bovine fibrinolysin, alone or in combination with desoxyribonuclease, appears to be of value in the enzymatic debridement of ulcerating wounds. This agent achieved more rapid and frequently more effective superficial debridement of a significant proportion of ulcerating surfaces which had failed to respond satisfactorily to other forms of ...

TREATMENT OF THROMBOSIS WITH FIBRINOLYSIN (PLASMIN)

Journal of the American Medical Association, 1958
The possibility of dissolving a recent thrombus by the intravenous administration of a fibrinolytic enzyme was studied in a series of patients. Fibrinolysin (plasmin) was prepared in several ways from human and bovine plasma, and preparations were obtained from other laboratories also. Altogether 114 infusions of fibrinolysin were given to 37 volunteer

Treatment of Clotted Hemothorax with Fibrinolysin

Diseases of the Chest, 1959
The lysis and aspiration of a clotted hemothorax by means of an effective enzymatic agent is highly desirable. Various enzymes have been used for this purpose but alt have certain disadvantages. Trypsin has an irritative effect of pleural pain on injection and often shows a toxic reaction due to the enzyme or breakdown of protein products.’ The ...

Effect of Fibrinolysin on the Coagulability of Fibrinogen

Thrombosis and Haemostasis, 1962
SummaryStreptokinase or glycerol activated human fibrinolysin was added to human plasma and the enzyme action was stopped by the addition of epsilon amino-caproic acid at different time intervals. The clottable fibrinogen content of the mixtures was determined by diluting the plasma with either physiological saline or distilled water, both containing ...

THROMBOLYSIS WITH FIBRINOLYSIN IN CEREBRAL ARTERIAL OCCLUSION

Journal of the American Medical Association, 1958
Three patients with hemiplegia were treated by the slow intravenous infusion of fibrinolysin. The site of occlusion of the cerebral vessels was located in each case by arteriography. In one case the angiograms clearly showed nonfilling of the middle cerebral group of arteries before treatment, while on the eighth day after beginning treatment good ...

Fibrinolysins from Fibrin Clots

Nature, 1964
THREE fibrinolytic agents have been encountered in fibrin clots. The first was described as lytic factor in an earlier communication1. It was extracted with borate from trypsin-digested clots. It has since been found that extraction can be carried out successfully with 0.9 per cent sodium chloride and other salt solutions. Active preparations contained
