Fidel: A Large-Scale Sentence Level Amharic OCR Dataset

open access: yesInternational Journal on Document Analysis and Recognition (IJDAR)
Abstract The Ethiopic script used in the Amharic Language presents persistent challengesfor Optical Character Recognition (OCR) due to its large character vocabulary, diacritics, and high variability in handwriting. Although Amharic is spoken byover 58 million people, progress in OCR has been constrained by the lack of large, diverse ...

Scattering approach to fidelity decay in closed systems and parametric level correlations [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2013
This paper is based on recent work which provided an exact analytical description of scattering fidelity experiments with a microwave cavity under the variation of an antenna coupling [Köber et al., Phys. Rev. E 82, 036207 (2010)]. It is shown that this description can also be used to predict the decay of the fidelity amplitude for arbitrary Hermitian ...

Cancer‐associated mutations in endometriosis reframe a benign disease through molecular oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review aims to comprehensively analyse cancer‐associated somatic mutations (CAMs) present in endometriotic lesions, emphasizing their biological roles, spatial distribution and implications for translational applications in medicine. By contextualizing a benign state within a genomic framework, this analysis seeks to establish its value as a ...

Psychophysiology to Assess Impact of Varying Levels of Simulation Fidelity in a Threat Environment [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Human-Computer Interaction, 2012
There are many virtual environments found in the serious game community that simulate real world scenarios. There is a broad range of fidelity and experimental controls among these serious games. An important component to most evaluations is the extent to which level of fidelity impacts the persons immersed in the serious game.

APOBEC3 activity and DNA polymerase‐ε deficiency are associated with distinct IDH1 R132 hotspot mutations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 (IDH1) mutations are highly recurrent in multiple human cancer types, including cholangiocarcinoma and glioma. IDH1 R132C is the most common IDH1 mutation in cholangiocarcinoma and likely arises from APOBEC3A‐ or APOBEC3B‐mediated deamination.

Bridging the gap: a genetically validated avian chorioallantoic membrane platform for investigation of spontaneous circulating tumor cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established the avian chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) assay as a scalable in vivo model for studying circulating tumor cells (CTCs). Human gastrointestinal tumors spontaneously released genetically validated CTCs that were detected across multiple platforms, demonstrating that the CAM model provides an accessible tool for investigating early cancer ...
