Ultrafiltration and size exclusion chromatography combined with asymmetrical-flow field-flow fractionation for the isolation and characterisation of extracellular vesicles from urine

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, 2018
Extracellular vesicles (EVs) have a great potential in clinical applications. However, their isolation from different bodily fluids and their characterisation are currently not optimal or standardised.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Development of an advanced on-line position-specific stable carbon isotope system and application to methyl tert-butyl ether [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We present an advanced system for on-line position-specific carbon isotope analysis. The main limitation of on-line intramolecular isotope ratio measurements has been that optimal pyrolytic fragments are obtained mostly at temperatures where the analyte ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Isospin fractionation in the nucleon emissions and fragment emissions in the intermediate energy heavy ion collisions

open access: yes, 2003
The degree of isospin fractionation is measured by $(N/Z)_{n}$ / $(N/Z)_{N_{imf}}$, where $(N/Z)_{n}$ and $(N/Z)_{N_{imf}}$ are the saturated neutron-proton ratio of nucleon emissions (gas phase) and that of fragment emissions (liquid phase) in heavy ion

Development of methods for extraction and analytical characterization of carbon-based nanomaterials (nanoplastics and carbon nanotubes) in biological and environmental matrices by asymmetrical flow field-flow fractionation.

open access: yesEnvironmental Pollution, 2019
Suitable methods and fit-for-purpose techniques are required to allow characterization of carbon-based nanomaterials (CB-NMs) in complex matrices. In this study, two methods were developed; a method for extraction and characterization of CB-NMs in ...

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Recovery, overloading, and protein interactions in asymmetrical flow field-flow fractionation

open access: yesAnalytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, 2019
In asymmetrical flow field-flow fractionation (AF4), similar to other separation techniques, mass recovery and overloading require special attention in order to obtain quantitative results.

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...
