Comparative Test of Novel Fluorescent Optical Antennas for LED‐ and Laser‐Based Optical Wireless Communications

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
New fluorescent optical antennas are realized and tested for diverse Optical Wireless Communication (OWC) applications. The fluorescent concentrator slabs, based on different organic fluorophores, convert and convey the digital data conveyed through intensity modulation of incoming light toward a small‐area photodiode.

Using FPGAs to prototype a self-timed floating point co-processor [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Journal ArticleSelf- timed circuits offer advantages over their synchronously clocked counterparts in a number of situations. However, self-timed design techniques are not widely used at present for a variety of reasons.

Biasing and Demodulation Firmware for Kilopixel TES Bolometer Arrays [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2010
We describe the signal-processing firmware and software for a frequency-domain multiplexed (FDM) biasing and demodulation system that reads out Transition Edge Sensor (TES) bolometer arrays for mm-wavelength cosmology telescopes. This system replaces a mixed-signal readout backend with a much smaller, more power-efficient system relying on Field ...

Chemical AI in the Limelight: The Contribution of Photochromic Materials and Oscillatory Chemical Reactions

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Photochromic compounds are versatile ingredients for the development of Chemical AI. When they are embedded in a tight microenvironment, they become Markov blankets. They are also valuable for processing Boolean and Fuzzy logic. They contribute to neuromorphic engineering in wetware based on opto‐chemical signals exchanged with oscillatory chemical ...

A novel system architecture for real-time low-level vision [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
A novel system architecture that exploits the spatial locality in memory access that is found in most low-level vision algorithms is presented. A real-time feature selection system is used to exemplify the underlying ideas, and an implementation based on
