Strain distribution due to surface domains: a self-consistent approach with respect to surface elasticity

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Nanotechnology, 2015
Elastically mediated interactions between surface domains are classically described in terms of point forces. Such point forces lead to local strain divergences that are usually avoided by introducing a poorly defined cut-off length.

Strain field mapping of dislocations in a Ge/Si heterostructure. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Ge/Si heterostructure with fully strain-relaxed Ge film was grown on a Si (001) substrate by using a two-step process by ultra-high vacuum chemical vapor deposition.

Designing [100]-oriented Mn0.988Ni0.012CoSi/epoxy composites with large and reversible magnetic-field-induced strain by curing under a rotating magnetic field

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2023
Nowadays, the development of magnetic energy-conversion devices stimulates the exploration of non-rare-earth materials and their polymer composites with large strain output under magnetic field. In this paper, we will provide a basic strategy to produce [

Strain fields in repulsive colloidal crystals

open access: yesPhysical Review Materials, 2018
The concept of a local linear elastic strain field is commonly used in the metallurgical research community to approximate the collective effect of atomic displacements around crystalline defects. Here we show that the elastic strain field approximation is a useful tool in colloidal systems.

A real-time PCR screening assay for the universal detection of lumpy skin disease virus DNA

open access: yesBMC Research Notes, 2019
Objective The resurgence of lumpy skin disease virus isolates of different genotypic natures abolishes the accuracy of assays that target either vaccine or field strain genome.

Anisotropic Stark Effect and Electric-Field Noise Suppression for Phosphorus Donor Qubits in Silicon

open access: yes, 2015
We report the use of novel, capacitively terminated coplanar waveguide (CPW) resonators to measure the quadratic Stark shift of phosphorus donor qubits in Si. We confirm that valley repopulation leads to an anisotropic spin-orbit Stark shift depending on

Strong interrelationship between anomalous electric-field induced lattice strain along non-polar direction and domain reorientation in pseudorhombohedral piezoelectric ceramic BiScO3-PbTiO3

open access: yes, 2015
The lattice strain and domain switching behaviour was investigated as a function of cyclic field and grain orientation for a pseudorhombohedral composition of the high Curie point piezoelectric system xBiScO3 - (1-x)PbTiO3 (x = 0.40) by in-situ electric ...

Simulation of surface displacement and strain field of the 2011 Japan Mw9.0 earthquake

open access: yesGeodesy and Geodynamics, 2011
Based on dislocation theory of Okada, we adopted a finite-element fault model inverted by Gavin Hayes from seismic data for the 2011 Japan Mw9.0 earthquake, and obtained the corresponding surface displacement and strain fields.

Insulated-gate field-effect transistor strain sensor [PDF]

open access: yes, 1972
Strain sensors that can be switched on and off were fabricated from p-channel IGFET on thin filament n-type silicon crystals with silicon dioxide layer sputtered over transistor for passivation.

‘They Need to Hear You Say It’: Healthcare Professionals’ Perspectives on Barriers and Enablers to End‐of‐Life Discussions With Adolescents and Young Adults With Cancer

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT End‐of‐life conversations with adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with cancer rarely occur without the guidance of healthcare professionals. As a part of the ‘Difficult Discussions’ study, focused on palliative care and advance care planning discussions with AYAs with cancer, we investigated the factors that healthcare professionals identify ...
